Here's a few more Iray beetle renders... Click(er) Beetle, the Colorado Potato Beetle and the German cockroach
Colorado potato beetle aka Stonka from my childhood memories of the 70's , I have to hand clean the potatoes leaves from the beetle in our home vegetable garden to get some pocket money lol

I understand that beetle is quite a crop pest... I did it simply because it's a handsome-looking beetle. My childhood memory beetle in this set is the click beetle. I can still remember that distinctive click as it leaped into the air. The set came into existence because I had several requests for cockroaches and I really wanted to do a lightning bug/firefly.

I guess I'm not working at a snail's pace... here's a sneak preview of two new sets I'll have for January... Nature's Wonders Slugs & Snails (modeling pretty close to done)

and Songbird ReMix Parrots v7: Parrotlets of the World (now in beta testing). This set is a monster with all 19 Parrotlet species with m/f versions (38 birds in all x4 renderer formats=152). Since DAZ Studio is discontinuing the 3Delight renderer starting in 2026, this will probably be my last set with a 3Delight version (unless there's an outcry from those still want to use it).

Little parrots... for little pirates? ;) More birds, and some slimy snails too. If there's slugs... will you include some Morton salt?

I'll probably include the amazing slug I saw at Mt. Rainier NP... the Banana Slug... they grow up to 10" long so you'll probably need a lot of salt

That's longer than the slugs on Grandma's patio... at least as far as I can recall, they never got that big.

Even though I stick with Carrara and rarely use Daz Studio, I am sad that Daz is phasing out the 3DLight rendering engine.
I rendered all my DS stuff with it in the past, and never really used Iray. Of course Iray is much better, but also soooooo slow. Will people use Iray from now? Filament?
In any case, if I got it right, there will be another, last DS4 release on december 29 that will include 3DLight. After that, you won't have it anymore...
Daz 3D
I'll definitely keep the backup of older copies of the app!
Another way to download it offline, is going to your Daz account >> product library and then filter for "Daz Studio 4.x". You should be able to backup the current copy of Daz Studio.

The reason why DAZ is phasing out 3Delight is that they would have continue paying licensing fees to include it in DAZ Studio. Given that an overwhelming majority of Studio users use Iray, that makes sense. While I do all my rigging and character creation in Poser, the main promo renders I do for my products is in Iray. Iray has the best and most natural-looking outdoor lighting of any of our renderer engines (in my opinion). Yes, it takes a little longer, but the results are clearly worth it. I should add that while my art and main image renders are done in Iray, all of "what's included" promo images are still done in Poser Firefly (and occasionally in Iray). I like to show my products work well in both poser and Studio.

I only use Iray these days I haven't used 3delight in a long, long time. That said I'm sad to hear that they will be phasing it out.
