When he feels I've been too busy and not paying as much attention as he is use to getting, he avoids eye contact altogether...like umph, no time for me eh? If he's wondering if he's done something wrong, you get "the look", only his head is dipped downward so his eyes are peeping up, like did I do something wrong? Nights when I work late at the workstation, he'll watch me until he falls "asleep"...goldfish don't have eyelids, they just become inactive and find a resting spot...so he looks like the needle of a compass pointing true north, falling asleep while watching me...haha. I would get the feeling that he was expressing emotions with his behavior, but didn't think it was possible until I read it online. Apparently they can get depressed, lonely, do tricks for food, watch TV....everything but go for a walk on a leash...haha. He gets the most active when I'm cooking...if I start rattling pans, he's learned that dinner time soon follows, so he starts swimming happily in patterns. They relate more to their owner if they are in a tank by themselves, because they school in a community by nature.
