If anybody is interested in converting music, there are numerous demo videos on YouTube, just search converting cassettes to MP3, or converting vinyl to MP3.

Here is a more basic Audacity tutorial, not quite so complicated. You can also use it for recording with the microphone on your computer. Go here for the free LAME MP3 add-on.
