That reminds me of when Hurricane Sandy hit us in 2012. The total of damages reached $75 billion, second only to Hurricane Katrina years before.We were really lucky up here but down south on the Coromandel, not so. Big floods, houses inundated, roads closed, no power, the lot. Poor things, they've got a lot of cleaning up to do
Not only did Sandy cause major flooding, it made a mess of the Rockaways (an island off the southern coast here in NYC), causeing a good number of houses being lost because of fire, and the inability of the Fire Dept. to get to them owing to downed trees. I don't think they've fully recovered from it yet.
