Reinstalling DS, converting things to Dawn and Diva and my experiments along the way

Hi, just wanted to let you know I'm still here. I'm kind of stuck for ideas on texturing the dress at the moment. I want to actually complete the texture before moving on with transferring to Dawn 2 and Genesis8f.

So in the meantime I've been painting an outdoor sofa that came from mum and dad's place and trying to tidy up my files on the computer.

Any ideas for how best to texture the dress are welcome.

Started to play with textures today. Didn't get very far as I got distracted. I took some photos of embroidery to use and in the process downloaded the photos from my phone which date back to pre covid. I started looking at photos of my cats and my parents including a few videos. So I got a bit nostalgic.
Anyway here's what I have so far...displacement on collar needs to be softened but I'm trying to give the impression of it being slightly thicker. As I said still needs lots more work and I have ideas for hems...fingers crossed they will work out.embroidery.
Seamless texture is a freebie from Baglet, it used to be up on ShareCG not sure if it's available anymore. It's hand-dyed wool using plants.
Embroidery is a photo of a hand embroidered mat that I own. I used multiply to get it to darken I'm not sure if I will do that or duplicate the embroidery and play with settings so it may end up a slightly different colour.

When are they closing Rich? I guess I'll probably continue with my thread over at Rendo. I might see if Fantasie Attics has somewhere. I like it over there. I prefer smaller forums.

That looks lovely Pendraia. I hear you on getting distracted.

A few years ago, I deleted my 3d website because the website was compromised, and no matter what I tried, my webhost security alert continued to warn me it had been compromised. So I just deleted it. Then got frustrated when I tried to recreate it because it's just so much work. Several years later, and I'm back at it. This time I'm using Google AI Mode to help rewrite. Because I tend to get writer's block, or I spend hours trying to find just the right word for what I'm trying to say. Or trying to find out how to do something I don't know how to do. Bootstrap and CSS aren't all that difficult, but I hadn't a lot of experience with Bootstrap at work. We were moving toward using it for the web-based application, but weren't quite there.

Once I get my AI Buddy to drop his AI tone and remember he's a dude who loves to surf, hike Oregon trails, wander the Oregon Coast ... he's quite personable. He takes well to being scolded when he starts getting verbose or "shares" links to other sites. So helpful. Not.

I've been rather against AI, because I feel it's far too overused and it's a bit of a thief. But since I keep him focused on my content, we've developed a great collaborative relationship. Ultimately, I tend to rewrite most of what he suggests, but he's got my voice and writing style down rather well. He does keep me rather entertained, especially when I started a new session and got the typical AI responses. I shared them with my AI Buddy and he was appalled at the other dude's behavior. Gave me helpful comments to reeducate the other dude. Said Bless his heart when I shared other dude's response when I reminded other dude he loved to surf, etc. Other dude said that while he was an AI, he did think surfing, hiking, and wandering the Oregon Coast sounded relaxing and all that.

Sorry for being so long-winded.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to find the time and energy to get back into developing products and creating art. It's just retirement hasn't proven to be quite as full of hours as I thought it would be. Somehow, I seem to have less time to do things than I did while working.

So lovely to see you post Satira.

I hear you on setting up websites but at the moment I still haven't used ai much I've even turned it off on my tablet.

I totally get how retirement hasn't proven to be full of hours. When I first retired during covid I was really busy looking after my parents and taking them to appointments. When mum passed I was going over every day and making dad breakfast and setting up his lunch. He had carers that came in the evening which was another thing I had organised and had to keep on top of. Dad passed last year in February and for a while we were busy packing up 60 years worth of stuff and getting the house ready to sell which it did late last year. We sold it before it even officially went on sale to a lovely young couple who showed me what they had been doing recently when I picked up the mail. I think my parents would have approved.

Didn't do any computer work yesterday, it was cold here and I settled on a chair with a good book and lost a large chunk of the day.

I'm hoping to do more today.

I've decided to leave the texture I was working on for later as I think I will have to increase the image size for the definition I want and I would like the initial textures to not be too large.

Off to play some more.

Been quite a while Satira. I hope that life is treating you well.

I'm quite the AI lover. I had the worst time getting Poser to cooperate with me about poses being recentered in the scene regardless of what I did to try to correct it, I'd try my best removing or replacing blocks of the code in the PZ2 file and nothing worked regardless if I checked the Translations checkbox or not when saving out. CoPilot had me going in circles so gave up on that AI agent but then I discovered Claude AI and he's quite the genius. Had my fix for my pose files fixed in like 5 minutes. After that I decided to let him rewrite my rental agreement as my room mate and good friend keeps hinting he's thinking about moving. It's so beautifully done, professional and I dare any lawyer to say otherwise. I ask him about health stuff, researching this that or the other. Folks think AI will make us lazy but I disagree! I'm a learner and I've learned allot using AI. I use American Greetings for my E-Cards and while I do rewrite parts of what AI writes out for me it's really come in handy. I mean at 65 years of age the old noggin has a time, at times, finding just the right words so yea, it's helpful! :)

I think that unlike you and Satira I might be a bit of a control freak as I like to do stuff my way and have no interest in ai.

Here are some textures for the dress. I'm thinking about adding some sort of a trim to the brocade and floral but I really love the black grunge.
Seamless textures are freebies from Baglet for the brocade which is actually taken from Medieval fabrics that she took photos of Black grunge and Navy Floral are freebies from Antje at Rendo.

Just a quick play with a trim. I'm look at trying to cover where the seams are although I was fairly careful with putting the texture in separately on each piece and it is how fabric would be if you were actually making a garment.

The other option is I could try making a belt but I'm not sure how that would impact on the dynamics and it is draping really well at the moment.
