Reinstalling DS, converting things to Dawn and Diva and my experiments along the way

I was looking thru previous uploads that I had on ShareCG and while looking at the Sheath dress decided it needed to be updated to dforce.
The original mesh was very low poly and also contained some flaws in the mesh that made it hard to keep the neckline looking nice. So I've updated it in Zbrush. Just some very early renders as I might change the mesh some more I'm still deciding.
The original was conforming only. I might re release the first one and then release an updated dforce dress. Textures will be different as I've already changed the mesh quite a lot. At the moment I'm simulating the dforce at 100% and so the kneckline is a lot lower but once reduced like I normally do with dforce it will be higher. At the moment it's not worth messing with the settings as the mesh is still likely to change.

Looking for the older image of the sheath dress I got distracted. It's been a long term project to remake the tshirt and shorts I originally made for Dawn. I thought convert the items from Dawn 2 across for the shorts and add some tee shirts in. This is the medium scoop tshirt. I also have a high neck tee also. Please ignore the light artifacts on the shoulder.

Still here but a bit busy at the moment as I'm trying to organise some outfits for myself and my daughter for my son's wedding in April.

Also been looking at new sewing machines as my current one is over 20 years old. Would you believe they actually come with lasers to help you sew straight...rofl.

Also had a couple of appointments with financial advisors and centrelink as we just received a sum of money from dad's estate. I'd rather have my dad but reality is we none of us live forever and he managed until 95, had a good life and the last 18 months with mum not there he found it difficult. They're together again but I'll still miss him.

Still around, I've been busy since the wedding first with my sister who was here for a week afterwards and after that I've been having issues with a sore tooth. Hopefully it will be pulled out today and things can get back to normal.

thanks Rich...next dental appointment is tomorrow to finsh the provisional bridge and check on the extraction site. Still really lovely weather here at the moment as we head into Autumn so I'm trying to catch up with all the weeds that have grown while I was busy with other stuff.
I hope you are going well hugs Pen

Finally had a chance to catch up with some computer things as the weather is horrible and grey today.

Looking thru what I was up to before my hiatus it looks like I had some sports gear tshirt/hoodie and a sheath dress in the works. I thought I'd work on getting the dress finished first. Aim is to make it for Dawn, Dawn 2, Gen8F and perhaps also Gen9F time will tell.
Still need to fine tune the details on the mesh but the base looks to be working okay. Might have a bit more of a play before I fine tune just to be certain.

Remember back in the day when there were bell sleeves like this, even robes for Wizards and what not and trying to get them to look naturally draped when the arms were in certain positions? Thanks GOD for dynamics. I just hope the boys get the new dynamics engine working nicely in Poser 14 at some point. Stick with Poser 11-13 for the time being until all that can be ironed out. DS dynamics are so much better in so many ways.

Yes, I remember them. The additional sleeves on the morphing fantasy dress that they had to make poses for.

On the render with the arms crossed I thought for sure it would explode on me but it didn't surprisingly.

Yeah I'm waiting on seeing what happens with Poser dynamics myself. I want to transfer some of the clothing I've done across but can't see the point of learning two different systems. So I'm waiting to see what happens. HBorre? I think has recently gotten some good results.

I was full of cold yesterday so I spent the day unzipping freebies from Rendo. Still have lots to do but I'm hoping that today my brain is functioning well enough to uv it.

I was thinking of cutting it up like I would a circle skirt so down the sides, waistband seam, shoulders, underarm and then another one just above where it drapes from.

I'll have to see how it goes though...

I'm feeling pretty good at the moment. I've uv'ed the dress and managed for the first time to create a mesh with 2 maps attached instead of one.

The skirt and sleeves are really quite large so I thought it needed 2 maps. I worked it out without resorting to tutorials. It was simply a case of creating surfaces to match where the cuts had been made on the mesh.
In UV Layout it shows the stretched areas in red. The only stretching is a slight amount in the front of the boobs. So all in all I was quite pleased with the map.
I will possibly create some additional surface maps but I will have to think on it some more. So far I'm thinking around the neck, the hem, sleeve hem and possibly where the sleeves join. Time to start checking character morphs to see if they need custom morphs.
