Music From The Hive

Brilliant
My husband came across this a couple of days ago:
Great cover!
Saw this ensemble (Post Modern Jukebox) in concert last November in Durham, NC. Great concert. Reimagining 'current' and 'pop culture' tunes in 30s-50s stylings. (Even a tap dance rendition to Mario game music in ragtime.)

Here's my faves...Thriller with Wayne Brady...30's early jazz. (He wasn't on tour and they didn't do this song.)

And a Marilyn Monroe-like version: Whoops I Did It Again.

The guy in all black with that fabulous hair and beard is really fun to watch!

What a gorgeous, heart touching song. Romany has a vibe to her voice that reminds me allot of Dido's voice. The electric guitar at the end wasn't my thing but not horrible.

Definitely the track of the album for me. Romany has a superb voice. The song, which is a cover, comes from indie band The Montgolfier Brothers from 1999 and is apparantly a family favourite. Romany appears on another track on the album called Yes, I Have Ghosts penned by mother Polly (and David). According to a recent interview with David this could be an ongoing collaboration and I look forward to hearing her again in the future.

I'm just getting this one in under the wire. Merrry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

PostModern Jukebox is a favorite group of mine. They released this video a few days before Christmas. The running gag between wife and me...I don't call it Christmas until I hear this song on the radio. She says Sirius counts and I heard it just after Thanksgiving.

I can't claim it as the greatest Chrismas ever but one outstanding highlight is that I haven't heard George Michael's Last Christmas* once. Not one single, solitary time. That alone must be proof that there is a God after all!

Roll on Easter!

Be warned! If anyone gets the urge to upload that song I will have no choice but to send my grandaughter Lucy to see you, and she was thrown out of the Girl Guides for excessive cruelty to coconuts! Beware!

I just couldn.t resist this. This is the live rehersal for Between Two Points. Romany's voice in this version is pure magic!
And then the memories begin!

You're very welcome! I can't believe that I've been following David Gilmour around since I first saw Floyd in 1968 at Gorleston Floral Hall, near Great Yarmouth as an up and coming young band. I even got to help them load their van after the gig. A Commer Commercial in black with a broad white stripe down the side and share a pint with David and Rick after. David was just the same then as he is now. Innovative and always looking for new ways of expressing himself through his music. I've watched throughout the years expecting at some point to hear that he'd finally decided to sit back and just take it easy but that isn't David Gilmour and this collaboration with wife Polly and daughter Romany is no exception. I don't think he'll ever stop and that makes me a very happy chap indeed. There are a few more videos on YouTube from the Luck and Strange tour which are well looking up. Have fun!
