BACKGROUND:
At first glance the Red Knight appears to be somewhat of an oddity as a mecha. Resembling more of a large robot than a true mech. As with all of the designs of it's lineage, the Red Knight is a high performance machine. It is a compact and highly maneuverable mech. The beam-cannon mounted to the right arm gives it considerable punch at range, while the plasma sword makes it a fearsome close in combatant. The Red Knight also comes equipped with a shield (not shone) that helps compensate for it's otherwise light armor.
This image was created using a micro deluxe, rollerball, artistic lining pen. It was rendered on a medium tooth drawing surface, found in a leatherbound, Tara sketchbook (8.5 x 11 inch). The entire piece took me about 3.5 hours to complete. It was originally started about sixteen years ago, and only sketched in pencil and half finished at that time. I decided to finish it off this year. Unfortunately I am still suffering from troubles with my drawing hand related to carpal tunnel, and was unable to get some of the clean lines I would have liked.
