Higun Concept Work
Pencil Illustration Circa 1992
Caption
TITLE: "Higun - Concept"
MEDIA: "Pencil Illustration"
YEAR: 1990-2006
BACKGROUND:
A concept of a scavenger built Mecha for a Palladium version of Robotech The Roleplaying Game, way back in the day. Post Zentran apocalypse, in the wasteland anything was law. This was long before the comics by Eternity. I had envisualized several mecha that were cobbled together from mixed parts of Destroids, Valkyries, and Zentran Mecha. When laying out the framework I used images of various Macross mecha and vehicles for references. The upper legs were encased in the Armor for the GBS-01, to give extra support, while the lower legs mount fast packs. The central fuselage is the core of a Spartan/Gladiator minus it's missile pods, with the head of a VF-1S mounted. The left arm is from the orriginal Spartan/Gladiator, while the right arm is a cobble together of Particle Beam Cannons. The four missile bays are from one of the attack helicopters (I forget which).

This image was created using Various types of pencil (Starting with a No. 2 Hard lead, and a few different mechanical pencils). It was rendered on a smooth tooth drawing surface, 70 lb. Typing paper (8.5 x 11 inch). The entire piece took me an unknown amount of time to complete. It was originally started about sixteen years ago, and only half finished at that time. I decided to finish it off quite recently. Unfortunately I am still suffering from troubles with my drawing hand related to carpal tunnel, and was unable to get some of the clean lines I would have liked. The variances in apparent pencil depth are partly due to age, but mostly due to my scanner acting up.
