Corvexes MKIII Prototype
Pen & Ink Mecha Design from 2008
Caption
TITLE: "Veernex Corvexes - Armored Soldier Mk.XIII Support Suite Prototype"
MEDIA: "Pen Illustration"
YEAR: 2008 (April)
BACKGROUND:
The Corvexes Armored Soldier Mk XIII was an advanced prototype of the Support Suite. While is uses much of the same Leg and lower chasis designs as the later MK.XV, the upper chasis features much heavier armor coverage all around. Designed to be a much heavier combatant than the Armored Soldier Mk.II, the Mk. XII was still a manueverable machine due to it's souped up powerplant. In adition The Support Suite prototype shared the added versatility of the Mk. II through the use of it's various upgrade packs and weapon loadouts. The Mk. XII had one feature that never made it past those few late-model prototypes that were produced, and that was the thruster and flight capacity common to the FCZ Powersuite series. Further the Support Suite Advanced Prototype featured a much more powerful weapons array, hinging on it's gattling barreled, 2.75" rocket cannon, that could deliver a salvo of of up to 50 rockets in ten seconds, with a capacity of 90 rockets in the drum. Further armaments included a Medium laser cannon, with much oversized bore for intimidation, centrally mounted, and a light pulse later over the shoulder. In addition, hidden among the armored plates of the left arm, is a deployable, hyper-velocity, carbide saw that can scissor through armorplate like a hot knife through butter. While the performance of the A.S, Prototype was exceptional, it's design and production came late in the Division wars, and the Crennon Legion found it's cost unwarrented. Only a handful ever saw battle, one of the most famous came to be known only as "The Rocketman" by the numerous FCZ pilots he downed.

This image was created using Artistic Lining Pens. It was rendered on a medium tooth drawing surface, found in a leatherbound, Tara sketchbook (8.5 x 11 inch). The entire piece took me about 6 hours to complete. It is one of many planned mechanical designs for an ongoing science fiction storyline I was working on at the time. The majority of other designs never did get finished. I hope someday to return to this (among other) projects.
