TITLE: "Alternative Angel"

BACKGROUND:
This is Angela, an alternative depiction of an angel. When I started I had just drawn the head with feathers, as I thought feathers for hair might look more natural for an angel and blend with the wings better. I started and finished this work for my mother, who loves angels, I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to finish. There is a poem that goes with it, but that shall remain the sole possession of my mother.
This image was created with a combination of a Number two, hard lead pencil, and a .05mm core Technical Pencil. The image was created on a medium tooth drawing surface, found in a leatherbound, Tara sketchbook. The original image is 8.5 x 11 inches. This image was first started in 1996, and sat unfinished in my sketchbook for almost 7 years. Finally, in February of 2003, I decided to finish this work off.
