Damn, I just set myself on fire! Made the most AWESOME beef curry, added two dried chillies complete with seeds...think one is maybe enough. Had run out of turmeric and I think I now like it better without. So with steam coming out my ears and sweat rolling down my face I scoffed it up accompanied by garlic roti. Nom.

Oh noes! That's terrible *tries to imagine world without chillis* Thus far in mine 60 years I've never become allergic to any food *touches wood* All my allergies are up my nose...I'm allergic to so much. But not food. For which my tummy is exceedingly grateful on account of how much I like eating

Maybe you should try it 'Newcastle' style next time Lorraine. They're notorious for their super-heated Vindaloo's in the north-east so they usually come with a side dish of Savlon!

Nope, Myth, do not like curries to be that hot. I remember have a Thai prawn curry in Wellington once, with huge tiger prawns that might as well been cardboard for all you could taste of them. So much chilli! I like just enough heat to raise a sweat but not enough to kill the taste or my tastebuds

NZ is braced for the imminent arrival of Cyclone Cook heading south from New Caledonia and now 500ks to the north. Northland will not get the brunt of it, that is sadly the Bay of Plenty's lot and a state of emergency there has already been declared. We are still forecast to get 50kn gusting 70kn here between 10am and 2pm tomorrow and heavy rain. I'm all shipshape and battened down with plenty of supplies. The only worry I have is my mooring was serviced yesterday and hasn't had time to rebury itself in the mud, and it could drag if we did get 70kn. Many fingers, toes and legs are being crossed here hoping it doesn't happen. Catch you on the flipside, my friends!
