I am SO glad you're back!

I've been doing that more these days, but back when I was really spending at DAZ, I would've had to add money to my PayPal account just about every week. Now-a-days, I do it about once every other month, so now it's working out nicely.

I'm a bone fide shopaholic so credit cards are something I've cut out of my life. In NZ we use eftpos cards for atm's and shop eftpos machines; debit cards are like credit cards, issued through a credit card merchant (mine was Visa, is now Mastercard) but use the funds in your account instead of credit. So I can shop on line as long as I have funds. No funds, no shop. Much safer for a person like me.

Ah Ha! Thanks for the clarification Lorraine. Here we have more than one purpose for our Debit cards, one is for use with the ATMs, which is what I use mine for, and one to use as a credit card. Mine can be used that way, but I only did that once by mistake. I prefer to not use it as a credit card, as I have 3 of those, though I don't use the other two nearly as often as my main credit card.

I don't use my ATM card at all. We can take a draw off our paycheck between pay periods, so that's what I do. The rest of my paycheck goes to my wife. Since she is in the Philippines, I send it to her Western Union. No cards in use at all. It's too scary.

Got your book, Rokket! Will be putting it onto my tablet shortly and the read will begin :)
Way cool. I have to tell you one thing, though: At the end of the chapter I gaffed a little bit. There is something called Project Phoenix that he is looking for. For reasons that will probably never be known, I inadvertently referred to it as Project Genesis. It's a simple goof, but it alters the story. I meant to call it Project Phoenix...

Will keep it in mind! You'll be changing it to its proper name or has Genesis got the go light now?

No, it will stay Project Phoenix. I've already made the change in my own manuscript. I am 76 pages in right now. I had a burst of energy last night and wrote for awhile. That was a mistake because we had to get early today.

I rarely use my credit card. Usually only when I need to delay payment. Otherwise, I use my debit card. Both are insured against unauthorized use and both are monitored for suspicious spending. With the debit card, I know there is no chance of me forgetting to transfer funds to pay it off before the end of the month. Which I have ... unfortunately, done a time or two.

The next couple days are going to suck. We are pulling into port --- for two whole hours. We have a lot to do. By the time we get in port for any length of time, it will be over a month at sea. Oh well, I chose this.

Oh my! That is a long time at sea! Sometimes when I'm moaning about the weather or the sea conditions or some other part about living aboard I too have to remind myself I chose this life. But it doesn't make it any less annoying! You can be doing something you chose and still find it sucks sometimes/a lot.

It's funny; when I was younger and in the Navy I could do 120 days at sea without seeing a port standing on my head. Now if I am out here for more than a week, I start getting upset about it. I guess it's because I know in the back of my mind I am not tied to a contract. I can give two weeks notice and be gone...

... but then what would I do for a living? There isn't a lot of choices out there.

It's scary looking at the future without a safety net of some kind. And no contract is a no safety net. And scary. Hugs.

Agreed on all counts.

Rokket, as far as the story goes, that is where my comment about sucking at editing comes in. Aside from personal tastes I can't tell the difference between poor and good writing. It takes really horrible stuff for me to realize it's bad. Fortunately you have some more discriminating folks reading as well so that works. :)
