Wow, now that's quite an accomplishment. Is there enough room on it to house all of them? I didn't realize they had 4 kids.

Its a big cat but as I've never been in one, is there enough room to live (especially with kids)? I assume the bedrooms are in the twin hulls but the room in the middle doesn't look that big.

haha just saw closer pix on FB, what I though was a "room" in the middle is really out doors area that look quite roomy. now I'm wondering just where the living/kitchen areas are :D

Well now. That does make sense Lorraine.

Not much then that is ON the river then instead of IN the river. Not even a lilypad would be considered ON instead of IN!

Oh that certainly does give more perspective on things. All I can say is WOW!! :)

Hi everyone! I'm still on a high from yesterday and all the excitement! So glad you're all interested in my friends, they deserve all the kudos in the world for what they've accomplished. This morning they crossed the Waitara bar safely and are now in Port Taranaki readying for sea trials. When they're happy with those, the next big adventure is bringing Cuckoo up the coast, round the top of the North Island and down to the Bay. It'll be a three day voyage and one that Rose will have to sit out as she'll be back here at work.

That's actually the waves on the bar, Miss B. Most if not all of the rivers and harbours along the west coast have a bar where the water will break. Cuckoo is riding up over the breakers in the photo. Someone took a video of them leaving and it was a real "holy hell!" moment when she lifted up onto the wave. But up and over she went and was safely through and out into calm water.

Thank you, Seliah :) I'm waiting till it gets dark to phone them, I figure they'll HAVE to stop working then. But knowing Matt as I do, not even that will stop him ;)

Ahhh, OK. I was a bit surprised that a Cat would churn up that much.

They did an awesome job on Cuckoo Lorraine! In regards to size it can be surprising how much space they probably have. My sister built a houseboat with her partner years back and I remember thinking it would be quite small looking at it from the outside but inside it was quite spacious and was very comfortable. They only used it on weekends though.
My baby sister is a Capricorn... early January birthday. She is a real fire cracker herself! The difference between her and me? Mine will stew for a while... she goes off at the first push of a button. LMAO

In a way, I think her method is kinder.
Lol...sounds like me. I'm a capricorn and if someone pushes my buttons I'm quick to let them know but I don't hold grudges for very long....I think my husbands counts on that sometimes. lol

Pen, they've got way more space and storage than I have, the only thing I have that they don't is an inside living/lounge room and heating. But as they are planning to go offshore in our winters, if not for longer, that won't be an issue after this winter.

I was surprised at how much space there was inside. From the pictures here, I thought it was a lot smaller than it actually is. Obviously, it was further away from them than I thought!

Pretty cool that each of the kids have their own little cabin.

The girls think it's way cool to have their own cabins...it's the first time they haven't shared a bedroom :)

Not surprised Lorraine...it looks about the same size as my sisters houseboat that they used to own and that was quite spacious.
