So, Poser and Studio people are like oil and water and so don't mix?
I doubt that statement, especially after being here for X amount of years.
There are times when people don't get along due to this or that, but in the end, it's just people opinions, and we all know how much that means.
Because X says something, it does not mean that Y is automatically wrong because they don't use Z software.
Some of us have reasons not to like certain companies, but it does not mean we do not like the people that use those companies software.
Software is just a tool we use to make our art, products or whatever.
Perhaps we should concentrate on the things we enjoy doing, than those things that slightly annoy us.
I have had more than my flame wars over years, I have my battle scars from being in the front of those battles and now...... I let others do that fighting as it no longer gets to me as much as it used to.
"Oh a figure is only available for this software, it should be for my software as well!" Sorry, but I can't be bothered. I'm happy that the artist decided to bring some enjoyment to others. If it is to come for that other software then it will. Until then.... Why get upset about something you have absolutely no control about. You can rant and rave, or put that energy into something that will benefit yourself and others.
"My software is better than yours!" Is it? Good for you, I'm happy you think so, but allow me to use what I want as I will allow you to do the same.
Look through this site, and see that X and Y software users CAN get on together. They CAN help one another with conversions and hints. The can have discussions about this or that without having threads locked etc.
I don't know why it works here and doesn't on other sites, but I do know I hardly post anywhere else now and I think it is down to the people here knowing that they have a voice and they are individual people, not just a credit card to buy products.
Where else do you get as many WIP threads? I love seeing things come to life. Look back at how the HW3D animals came from the same mesh as Dawn. I want to see more WIP's, I want to see more people asking for beta testers for their products, both free and in the store. This is how a community grows, it finds something new and runs with it, shares the excitement and shows what they can do with it.
Other sites may be more draconian and then you will see that community start to turn on itself, looking for any little thing to jump on and complain about.
I'm glad to say, I as a person are no longer a part of those forum communities and I like being here, where I can post my renders, ask questions and occasionally do stupid things like writing long posts like this.
All the best.
Richard
