His name is John Amos. He played the father in Good Times, Gordy the weatherman on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the adult version of Kunte Kinte on Roots. I actually met him once while working at a radio Station, but I made him mad at me. I was interviewing him, but all I wanted to ask him about was Good Times and he wanted to talk about other things he had done.He definitely looks familiar, but I don't recall from what show . . . or his name.

Yes, we also watched it every year when I was young. Never saw it in color until I was married and had a color TV.Remember this movie!!!!! Watching this used to be an annual event in my house when I was young. Even had my bike stolen from the back porch one year while watching it.
