His name is John Amos. He played the father in Good Times, Gordy the weatherman on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the adult version of Kunte Kinte on Roots. I actually met him once while working at a radio Station, but I made him mad at me. I was interviewing him, but all I wanted to ask him about was Good Times and he wanted to talk about other things he had done.

Yes, that was the man. I loved watching him play, as I had taken piano lessons when I was in Jr. High School, back in the days they still had Jr. High Schools with grade schools from 1 to 6 grades.
