I read the story on that name and believe it or not it came from Lauren Bacall who was mad at her husband, Humphrey Bogart and some others. They would meet casually at Bogart's home, and Bacall said, "You look like at g**d**n Rat Pack." There were lots of members to the original Rat Pack, but After Bogart died, others left, and Sinatra became the default leader.
