I had to look it up, but I was out of diapers when The Avengers debuted in 1961. Patrick McNee had other partners then, mostly male. When Honor Blackman started, in 1963, she rotated with one man and another woman, named Venus Smith. It was during the third season, that Honor Blackman became his only partner. Two years, later, in 1965, Honor Blackman quit to star in a James Bond movie, and Emma Peel became Steed's partner.
