It is going quickly. The old roof is a single layer of shingles so they are simply using them as the insulating layer instead of having to pull them and put down something else beneath the metal.

I've yet to find a moist cat food that doesn't have a lot of unpronouncable ingredients. And anything with brewer's yeast in it immediately gets a no go.

I also am not crazy about buying cat food that isn't made in the US or in Canada. Not that I think the US has the best facilities by any stretch of the imagination. Which is one reason I like that Acana is Canadian ... although, they apparently also now have a facility in the US. I do wish they also made moist cat food in addition to the kibble. So for now, I frequently give Tsuki a bowl of kibble in warm water.

Yup. The attic has a layer of insulation on it's "floor" too. That got somewhat disturbed by the re-wiring (Man was that needed. The house still had the old cloth insulated wires from when it was built back in '52). We got the walls insulated at that time as well and had double paned windows installed.

Try finding live porcelain knob and tube wiring in your 200 year old railroad-built house....

I can totally empathize with the updating of old wiring! But getting things more insulated is always a help, especially in the winter with cold air drafts and the like.

Last night was the Great Cricket Hatchout. Thousands upon millions of small black crickets and a gazillion of them flew out to the boat. I've just done the foredeck and washed masses of them overboard with seawater and detergent. The detergent is to break the water tension so the little blighters don't run across the water and climb straight back on the boat. What an awful job. I dislike crickets immensely.

@Satira, I understand totally about buying local products...we've had a lot of manufacturers go offshore and sometimes the results are not good...like when toxic things get added to baby formula and things. Standards differ from country to country.

After reading your post I went to check what was in my moist cat food. I must admit I hadn't looked as closely at it as you seem to have done.
Ingredients Meat including chicken, beef, lamb and pork, gelling agents, colours, flavours, taurine, minerals and vitamins.
Over here they list the thing there is most of first. Taurine was the only one I was really surprised by but looking here

Well, I managed to get an hour or two of sleep before the Bear decided that the whole house needed to be up. And then he wonders why he's getting growled at! LOL

Oh, well. Maybe today I can actually make some headway on Nataani's Poser materials! Hey, I can dream, right?

Satira, yeah, those ingredients look like what's about typical for the canned cat food in my area. We try to feed them fresh ingredients as much as we can. Sometimes it's just not possible for financial reasons, but often times we do make it work. And of course the one mouser doesn't need it all the time, she is very good at feeding herself on mice during the winter months... and given that mice are part of their natural prey list, who am I to intervene?

I just found this review (Best Cat Food Reviews), which also describes what they looked for and how they eliminated brands. Oddly enough, several of the recommended formulas have Carrageenan, Carrageenan Gum, or Xanthan Gum. All of which are questionable or controversial ingredients and caused foods to be eliminated. The review was last updated February 16, 2016, so I'm not sure why so many of the canned foods I looked at from the list contain these ingredients.

Since Acana is on the Recommended list for dry food, I'm not going to stress out above finding a moist cat food for Tsuki. I'll just keep adding water to a bowl of kibble and call it "gourmet"
