You can find HiveWire 3D and Lisa's Botanicals products, as well as many of our Contributing Artists, at Renderosity. This thread lists where many are now selling their products. Renderosity is generously putting products which were purchased at HiveWire 3D and are now sold at their store into customer accounts by gifting them. This is not an overnight process so please be patient, if you have already emailed them about this. My Hivewire accounts weren't letting me on. Found out I had to create a new forum account, and I still don't know what I did wrong with the store account. Anyway, got all that straightened out. Now if I can just figger out how to post an image I'll show some of the stuff I'm working on.

I would sooner have the variety of things for various programs in the store here at HW3D than a monopoly of a lot of items just for a few products.

Variety is the spice of life.

All the best.

I remember the last time I went on a shopping spree at RDNA. I took the Terradrome 2 free CBT seminar thing and afterwards they gave everyone on the call a %60 off coupon. I went right over and wiped out my wish list. At the end I was left thinking, on the one hand, Wow! Cool. I'll be making renders from this stuff for years and I got it for a song. On the other hand, I began to think, how can they carry on with such deep, deep discounts.
Syyd, Colm and Eric, were probably offered some guaranteed money in lieu of a few years of “maybe” money from store sales that are likely declining with each new release of DS.
Some artist, like myself, make their art in whatever form, music, films, renders etc for the arts sake. This has to be a different paradigm when you do it (make art and art product while running a brokerage) for a living. I imagine that this, “let's call it a sale of the business cause I don't really see it as a merger” with DAZ was something they carefully weighed out, pros versus cons and decided the pros were greater. Seems like Colm is back in Ireland focusing on his amazing photography. It couldn't be easy handling the kind of day to day support they did. Every time I needed to call about support which only came up maybe twice over the years, it was Syyd who answered the phone. Think about that for a second. No call service support. Virtually around the clock personal support. Hundreds and hundreds of customers from all over. If they made a good living wage from all of that work, I'd be surprised.
As for the RDNA store, I actually view this as a positive outcome for some really cool folks who've given a lot to the community as a whole. If the RDNA purchased products show up in my DAZ products library, no muss, no fuss, I'll be happy enough.
Yes, DAZ did crush Poser Pros whether intentionally or not, but for those of us around PPros in those days you'll remember there was a pivotal moment prior to the DAZ buyout involving copyright infringement that really started that snowball down hill towards destruction.
Competition is a good thing in this marketplace. DAZ will always have competition and I for one would never essentially hurt myself by saying I'll only shop at X or Y. Offer a quality product at a fair price and if I need it for something I'll shop your store.
The community is something different. I will miss the forums over there that did seem much more open and certainly less censored. Same with the galleries. To that I can only say, RIP RDNA. I'm glad I knew you.

I sure hope that our marketing isn't between spin and outright misinformation... Of course, marketing of ANYTHING focuses on the upside. Can you imagine any company saying "we just brought out a new product. Frankly it's awful, and I wouldn't buy it." ;)
Well... umm... I'd say you're closer to "spin" than anything else, and I did add the "good people" modifier. :whistling:

I tend to take everything with a grain of salt though. Like the BB King lyric says: "Nobody loves me but my mother... and she may be jivin' too".

I agree with the rest of your post, but my view on the quote above is a little different. I will not shop anywhere that I do not feel my custom is valued. My cash is hard earned and I not about let any company walk all over me just because I want a particular product. In that respect I clearly have a different view than you, not that mine is any more valid than yours, I am just highlighting the fact. I am also not saying this about Daz I am just outlining my view on the subject.

You did at that :) Which hopefully puts us on the other side of "spin" :p
