Lyrra's Dawn DevSuit, My head will explode!

Yeah, was thinking to scale them a bit.
I'm not sure how much I need to change the suit for retail use.
I need it to stay smooth for this set, no ridges or wrinkles but might test that idea too. :)

Hmm, had to take time off on the suit.
I can't get it to fit against the suit correctly.
Even tried the fitting room but that did not work.
However, I did create a nifty suit, just needs a UV map and texturing now.
Problem is I exported out of Blender with subdivision of 2 and it is heavy.

I usually only export out of Blender with a sub division of 1. Poser has it's own smoothing thing.

Thought I'd post a few images of the work progress on type-01 so far.
I took the suit into Blender and did a bit of work, this is how it turned out.
But I didn't think and exported it as obj with subdivision 2 so it is a bit heavy.
These are the two colors so far and the red has the same styles as the black, may be a bit too red. :)
Later I will add the other styles and maybe one more color.
The image are not high quality yet.
And this is not done with the bikini parts Bonnie made for me but I'm having some trouble getting it to fit the suit.

I've got the main suit and it's textures done.
All Firefly sets done and will work on Superfly next, the do the DAZ sets.
And I've created a testing folder with the folder structure set up and ready to fill.
But need a break from it and want to try my little Carousel again and see if I can finish it correctly.

Meanwhile my kitty kats are being tested on the first pack.

Come to think of it not sure where stuff goes for clothing items.
Is it "People/Dawn/Vendor/Character" then folders for Clothing, Materials, Props inside the Character folder?
Not in a hurry though as I need time to relax between work and stuff.

I think it should be Runtime/Libraries/Characters/Hivewire 3d/Dawn/Your folder name

Exactly, and if it's dynamic clothing it would go in a Runtime/Props/HiveWire 3D/Dawn/Faery_Light folder, or perhaps just a Runtime/Props/Faery_Light folder. I've seen it done both ways.

I have to adjust the textures a bit more but still need to finish all my kitties first.
I'm also thinking this suit need boots but not sure I can do those.
If, when tested, the geometry is okay and all textures finished I will see if others would like to make some add-ons.
Maybe boots, gloves and whatever else might look good with it.
All add-ons should be Poser and DS ready though if possible. :)

I think tre may be some texture stretching, don't know how to fix it.

Edited to add: I jut discovered that the map does not line up correctly so the sames won't match either...sigh.
Guess I'll wait a bit till I understand more how to do this mapping stuff.

Hi FL, what are you finding is the problem with the texture stretching?
Are you adapting DawnSE's DevKit as your base? Or are you using the DawnCRKit.obj - if so, it has good UV’s so don’t change them.

If you look back at the render I posted here previously, that was using DawnCRKit.obj (I think that took about 30 mins).

I think the outfit would look great with boots but gloves can be a bit of a pain to get right (just my opinion).

If you need help with boots for Dawn do you have a reference photo of what you had in mind that you could post?
I’m sure I or someone else here could assist you.

I have no particular design in mind.
On this one I may have done something wrong when I took it into Blender to edit, when the texture is rendered it looks okay.
The UV map looks stretched and not even.
Can't work on stuff today, my hands swelled overnight and even typing this is painful, I hate RA.

Ok when you are feeling better there may be a way that I could help you get back your original UV’s while still keeping your blender changes, but for that I do need to know what you used as your base.

I meant to get back to you and even did an imge of the stretch and the UV map to show how it does not line up.
But got sick with that Flu and it slipped my mind.
So here is an image of the UV map.

What I Understand You Have Done:
· You have used the DawnCRKit.obj
· You changed the shape of this .obj file
· BUT you also changed the UVs and now they have stretched badly

What I Understand You Now Want To Do:
· Keep your changes to the shape
· But get back the good UVs

OK, here’s my example:
· I changed the .obj file to puff the suit out around the ankles and wrists
· BUT I also changed the UV’s and ruined the materials

I now want to keep my puffy ankles and wrists but get back the original UVs
This is the original UVs

These are my UVs

This is a fairly simple thing to do in Poser:
1) Import the original DawnCRKit.obj
File -> Import -> Wavefront OBJ…
2) Load your .obj as a Morph Target
Object -> Load Morph Target (Messed Up UV obj)
3) Set the now loaded morph to 1

Untitled-1.png

4) With it set to 1 save the Good.obj file
File -> Export -> Wavefront OBJ…

5) Delete the suit with the loaded morph
6) Import the Good.obj file you just exported
File -> Import -> Wavefront OBJ…
7) Save this to your Library

And here is the Suit with the puffy ankles and wrists BUT with the original UVs

I hope this is what you were explaining had happened
And I hope my example is not too shortcut to follow :)

I tried it several times but it gives a message that the object has wrong number of vertices.

Oh dear, this is where things get complicated :(
We now have to figure out whether it would be easier to fix your UV’s in blender, OR
Can we find a way to get the obj with the right number of vertices?

You see my proposal is to leave the UV’s as Hivewire has made them if you can, because you won’t improve on them.

It’s hard to know what to do without figuring out what you actually did. So we need to first establish the process you are using and to know what you are trying to achieve. So here are a few questions that will help figure out our best approach.
1) Does your .obj file incorporate any of the items that Bonnie did for you or are they separate?
2) Did you delete any of the sections of the original .obj (e.g. the neck)?
3) Have you applied any Modifiers in blender?

AND could you tell me what is the end product you are working at making.
My understanding is this;
· You are using Hivewire’s .obj for Dawn’s development (DawnCrKit.obj).
· You are doing some alterations to its shape.
· You are adding the Phoenix Bikini as a separate attachment.
· You are making a number of material MATs for the outfit.
· You are then either going to use it as Dynamic cloth OR as Conforming cloth (which one?)
