I am SO glad you're back!

I'm with Seliah on this one, DS user so conforming would be better for me. However I have confirmed a lot of dynamic clothing for Dawn and it's usually come out ok.

Looking good thus far, Rokket.

And this is why I said dynamic. I will try what I said and see if I can get the clothing to drape properly in a cloth sim. If it works, then I'll rig it in Poser 10.
And for those with sharp eyes who would look at the staff and say the scaling is off. It's not. I just accidentally posed it upside down....
This is a 1920x1080 png. Click on it to get a closer look at the textures. I need feedback on them....

I will give that some serious consideration. I can rig it for Poser, but not DS. I don't know how hard it would be to convert Poser rigging to DS, though...

Rokket,

What some creators do, is run the cloth sim, and then either put that result into an item as a morph (no idea how that's done, sorry), or they take the cloth sim and then rig the results of the sim... I suspect most of these types of creators probably do the first.

That's a workaround to bringing a dynamic "look" into DS without the actual dynamics, but it does mean we are limited to whatever poses the sim was run in (usually provided with the item) in the case of the morph solution.

If you look at Ghastly's items on ShareCG, though, I think what he does is the second... runs one cloth sim, and then takes the result of the sim he's happy with, and rigs it. His clothing looks very much like dynamics, but is actually conformers and we are not limited by having to use a matching pose.

Again... as I said in the last post. It's your item. If you distribute it as dynamic, I might take a stab at running a cloth sim on it and then seeing if I can rig it in DS, just for my own use... LOL. I do really like the look of it.

If you rig it in Poser, we *should* be able to use it in DS. I only have trouble autofitting Poser Dawn skirts to DS Dawn... and that I think is because I haven't installed any of her available templates yet.

If you rig it for Poser I will most certainly grab it and convert it to DS. It's just a matter of autofitting it and choosing a projection template. I think most DS users would have no difficulty doing that. Our only problem will be with the long overdress as we don't have a good conversion for those. If you could give the skirt a couple of material zones we could at least give her a shorter version successfully. Does that make sense?

I will rig it after running a sim and getting a proper drape. I do know how to include the sim as a morph, but I haven 't tried that. I think option 2 that you mentioned would be a better way to go. Once I get the other pieces modeled, I'll rig it. I still have to make the armbands, boots, the tunic and the belt with the satchel.

Her tunic will be a challenge. Since the bottom part of it moves with the wind, especially when she runs, rigging would be a challenge. I was thinking of doing the top part of it as a conformer and having the bottom a hybrid that would work in the cloth room. I could still do that because it would require a separate material group. This you could work out in DS I am guessing.

I think the boots will be next. They are going to be a bit harder to do than the pants and shirt. I am working from the easiest to the hardest in terms of modeling....

Woop woop! Hot diggidy and man the torpedos, we're cooking with gas!
*sniff sniff* Do you smell something burning?

I decided to put the boots aside until I can find a 360 degree view of them. So I am working on the tunic. I am going to try two different methods of modeling it. One is two separate pieces, which the original looks like the way they made it. Two pieces sown together.

The other way is to model a single mesh and put textures and bump maps to make it look like two separate pieces. I am not sure which way will work best. But I do know that either way a cloth sim isn't going to look right until I model the belt for the tunic to collide against during the sim.

It will be a few days until I have something post worthy.

But I am picking up a few things in the HW store today....

Shopping. I love shopping, almost as much as I love chocolate, pizza and red wine. Course you have to go shopping to get those so I get to satisfy all my addictions at one time. Mmmm, shopping.

Yeah, well I am going shopping as a guy does. I know what I want so I am going in to get it. I won't be getting anything else, and I'll be out as soon as I can.

My wife is one shopper that even her girlfriends won't go shopping with anymore. She is known for being in a store for 3 hours.... in one aisle. She dragged me out with her once. We went through the entire store, filled a cart, then reversed track and put it all back. That was the last time I went shopping with her.

I dunno... maybe. Like I said, her shopoholic girlfriends won't even go out with her anymore. On the plus side, when she tells me that she is going to the market, I know I have at least 4 hours of uninterrupted modeling. And she doesn't spend a lot of money, so...

In other news, I tried a zeroed pose cloth sim with the outfit. It turned out pretty nice. I still have to see how it will look with the full costume. I still have to model the tunic and her belt. I won't know until that is done (it will be a single figure, not two separates).

Shoot! I have to remodel, probably starting tonight. I had what I thought was the perfect tunic. But when I ran it through a cloth simulation to get it to hug the body a little tighter it drooped in the front and back. I have to change the geometry. I will restart it tonight and hopefully have something to brag about by tomorrow afternoon.
