The Anchorage, Part 3

Well, no real yankee speaks the Queen's English, like @Mythocentric. We don't speak English. We speak American. If I axe for a sammich, every nephew and niece of my Uncle Sam knows I'm asking for a sandwich. I think pretty much most Aussies and Kiwi's know about our "yankee" or "yanks" nickname. But do you know who Uncle Sam is?

As for Take Ownership, the little app that allows you to bypass all of that rights and permission, and enumerating objects stuff, if it's legal for me to post the zip so you can scan it first, let me know.

Just found out a fab today...my mobile internet provider has just brought out an unlimited plan for $79 p/m. At the mo I'm paying $90 for 9Gb!! That's a real no brainer for next week. With moving back on the boat tomorrow and filling lpg bottles and fuel containers I never had $79 to spare but stuff the groceries next week, I'll live on 2 minute noodles!!!!

No way am I going to google it. That's just plain cheating with no lettuce, mean green or dead presidents on the line. Fab, I know but I have no idea about Captain Cook except maybe it's rum or stealing somethin'. Hols or troppo, I have no clue except that my spell checker is going crazy! Veg out? That sounds like a good idea right now and might be the one universal term that transcends borders and oceans!

I'm tired of organizing and I love Perry Mason reruns. I'm gonna zap some leftover Yoshinoya and do some inking and listen to Perry break them down in the background.

I know what a Captain Cook is in NZ, Pen, but I don't know if it's the same as Oz...our Captain Cooks make holes in dogs!

And I love Perry Mason too, Rob...but prefer reading the books :) And I too know what is a sammich...but do you know what a butty is?

"I'm on hols and have gone troppo and I'm now going to veg out."

Hols = Holiday? Troppo ??? Tropics comes to mind.

Veg out is also an Americanism. It means chill. (Or for those not familiar with chilling. Relax ... rather like a limp stalk of celery.)

I'll admit ... I looked up Captain Cook Australian Slang.

So ... now I know what Wiki says Captain Cook means. Apparently, I forgot Captain Cook had explored around New Zealand and Australia. Or it could be it wasn't considered near as important here as him playing around in Hawaii.

Pity he was killed by Hawaiians. Sorta. Ok. I lie. If you're going to attempt to kidnap a Hawaiian king ... you're going to meet with resistance.

@Pendraia Aussie slang can be just as bad as Kiwi slang and then when you add the two together...........

Just think of the potential! You could become the world's greatest statesman for the simple reason that nobody would understand enough of what you said to argue with you. Result!

Oh god! It's like listening to Eliza Doolittle and The Spice Girls before Henry Higgins taught them that rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain. The Pain! :speechless:

It's my own fault for invoking the name of @Mythocentric!

I finally gave in and had a Captain Cook on Captain Cook! Troppo, man! I'm trippin',

And I'm actually surprised that everything English speaking country knows who Uncle Sam is!

Finally...Hols...everyone knows that means Hologram...what do you mean I'm wrong! I'm only wrong on days that end with y!

@Mythocentric the scary thing is that all makes perfect sense to me, then again one of my best friends is a Welshman from south end London so go figure lol

You did Dreamer? Ye Gods! One thousand Hivewire brownie point that lady! Mind you, I'm a bit worried about that Welshman from south London. It's a bit like that Cheddar cheese which is made in Ireland or those Eccles Cakes from that bakery in Yorkshire. The mind boggles! :whistling:

You should know by now quietrob that you should never invoke Mythocentric without first undertaking the appropriate cleansing rituals and construction of a suitable protective circle! There's more than one person ended up going bats by ignoring that.....including me!
Elisa Dolittle? A reet come-uppon that one an no better than she should be! Mind you I'm somewhat surprised that everyone knows Uncle Sam. I mean, I know some of his pigeons are a bit frisky and he's won a couple of races with them, but all the same! I hope he doesn't go getting ideas above his station or our Auntie Nelly with be laying into him summat fearsome!

I understood the majority of what you guys said and did remember that Captain Cook had poked around that area before making his last mistake.

Meanwhile....
'Tis the season for bats in the bellfry! Seriously! I'm used to flying intruders at the store with chitin and an occasional one with feathers but this is the first time I've seen a flying furball there.

Me mum was born in Lanky and my grandad used to send tapes(old fashion variety not cassettes, but tapes) to us with him speaking Lanky and I understood it as well...lol

@quietrob , glad you worked it all out in the end. Most western and many eastern countries are inundated with movies and tv shows from America it would be unusual if they didn't know who Uncle Sam was.
