The Anchorage, Part 3

I wonder if insurance companies in those areas are considering giving home owners a bit of a discount if they install shutters. It would be more cost effective for both parties in the long run.
Here insurers are offering a discount for upgrading to metal roofs just for that reason. Bigger up front expense than just redoing shingles but tougher and much longer lasting. My hubby figures the roof we now have will outlast us and the house itself.

Sleeping?

You seem to be in the Eastern Time Zone by the time stamp. My computer thinks you made that post just before 11pm.

Hey folks! Hope all of you are well and not being blown about. I'm in front of a roaring fire surrounded by fluffies x five AND I HAVE A COMPUTER!!!!! I think I've installed most of what I want...no doubt I'll be in the middle of something important and go "now where is...?!" My boy is a champ, no denying that! He'll be back over in a week or so and we'll finish watching Planet Earth 2.

I was attempting to learn Blender painting yesterday and nearly gave myself an aneurysm! I have downloaded Blacksmith3D to give that a go instead. Wish me luck :)

Thanks my friends! I have an actual render cooking! It was so cold here I stayed up all night with the fire going, I'm used to my cozy little space on Sans Souci, and got used to Iray again...only a few months and I forgot how to use it!

Oh it doesn't take long for me to be away from something to forget how to use it, and I'm not just talking about 3D graphics, as it happens in R/L too.

All of the people I know who were in Irma's path are OK. my brother and his wife are staying with her dad due to power being out but people and furbabies are all fine.

I also heard from one friend in Irma's path, and she and her husband are fine. I have another friend I haven't heard from, but she and her family live in and around Miami, and since Irma took a path up the west (Gulf) coast of Florida, I'm assuming they're OK too. Her birthday was on Saturday, so that would've been one heck of a birthday present if Irma hadn't continued past Miami.

Morning all...glad to see you posting more Lorraine...enjoy your stay and being online!

I'm wanting to get a new computer so I can use LAMH as it drives me nuts at the moment and the computer seems to crash every time I render with it. I'm looking for suggestions on what would make a good system for 3D.

One more week and I'm on holidays...gotta love school holidays!

I am debating getting prime with my next paycheck. I need to check to see if there are enough fun stuff there that will work on my old machine there.

Probably might get an answer forget prime and stick with hivewire. I just like to have options.

Humm! A matter of perspective there Pen. Speaking from the other side of the fence as someone who's trying to recover from having to keep a five-year-old entertained for eight weeks (i.e. six weeks +two extra for building work. They've turned part of the school playground into a sort-of adventure park for the kids) I'm tempted to disagree but I won't because I've just realised that you guys have to do that for the rest of the year!*

* Please ignore this post**

** While you're about it, would you please ask her to stop telling me off for playing on the climbing frame? :(

Yeah...you've probably just finished or about to finish summer holidays. Ours only go for about 5 weeks as we have 4 school terms.

Think about this...you are coping with 1 maybe 2 children. Multiply that by 11 or 22. I have 22 children in my grade and most of them are just beautiful to work with. I do have one who is extra challenging behaviour wise and that is not the child I have in my grade who is on the spectrum and we had a great week as we finally got my asd student to go on the slide. It was just beautiful to see...funnily enough I miss my kids during the holidays but I do need the break by the end of term.

lol @ the climbing frame...sometimes little girls can be very bossy. You should explain that you're in your second childhood so you're officially allowed to go on climbing frames. ; )
Edited to add that both myself and my support teacher go on the playground and my ESO has been down the slide to show the ASD student how to do it. Took a while of just walking him up the steps and down the steps to get him used to it before we even attempted getting him on the slide.
