The Anchorage, Part 3

Morning Terre :) Happy Hump Day! For me at least ;)

Oh Seliah, I think it's time for your Bear to have some more medicine. A couple of 3am wake ups should do it ;) And that is funny about your friends! Phones do make it harder to hear properly, I even have problems with one of my Kiwi mates. But he is a shocking mumbler.

It should be ok, Terre, they are not predicting bad winds though there is a good chance of some thunderstorms in amongst it. The farmers and gardeners and anyone needing water in their tanks will be grateful for the rain, it's got dry the last week.

Oh, forgot to mention here, the guys who will be doing the roof work came yesterday to make their own set of measurements. Closer to getting a new roof. :)

Well..... time for mew to finish getting ready for work and go. Need to be there in 10 minutes. See you guys later.

Hopefully the roof won't bankrupt you. Those can be expensive to repair or replace, I know! Have a good day at work, Terre. ;)

Lorraine, he's probably about due.... he knows I've been busting my girl balls trying to get Nataani finished, and he knew when he went to bed himself last night that I was still working on him. Oh, well. In some ways he's still a high school boy...

"Moooom did you make my lunch? Mooooom where's my keys? Mooooom..."

I love him, but I swear that's the tone of voice I hear in the morning sometimes from him! Or maybe it's just my grumpy-cause-someone-woke-me-up filters engaging.

The last time he got onto a kick of 'honey did you do this, honey did you do that, honey can you help me do such and such' in the morning, he finally got growled at... I believe I asked him if he needed me to wipe his behind, too... no raised voice (I don't ever yell if I can help it, I hate yelling)... but one little question... he actually stopped and blinked at me. It was kind of funny... I had to remind myself not to laugh while he was in ear shot... it took him a minute to get the point, and then he stalked off to go get whatever it was he was asking me to get, because I was not gonna do it at that point.

Yeah, you can tell we've been married more than a few years... LOL

Rain sounds nice... we finally have the taste of snow on the air here. No snow yet, but the temperatures have warmed up from the 19 degrees Fahrenheit that they've been at the last day or two, and the wind had picked up yesterday... usually when we start getting higher winds, it means we have a storm of some sort coming in, whether it's rain or snow. Will be interesting to see if this passes over us like the majority do, or if we actually get any snowfall from this one.

I just left Korea where it was around 20 degrees Fahrenheit and came to Sasebo, Japan where it is a balmy 49 today. It was raining, but that let up. It's supposed to get to almost 60 by the end of the week. I can't wait. I moved to the Philippines to get away from the cold.

Bahaha! Go Seliah! You watch out Bear, someone's got their eye on you! As I sit here in my balmy 22C/70F I feels for yous fullas. Damn that's cold! We never get temps that low here  Maybe a couple or three times a winter we get a frost but that's about it. Still loves my heater but!

I have never been to the land of the Kiwi's but I have been to Aussie a few times. Darwin, Brisbane, Townsville, Sydney, Perth and Fremantle. I really enjoy myself when I can get there, which is usually by ship.

It's only been in recent years, and due to a chronic anemia, that I've even felt cold in it. I'm really quite used the cold temperatures... only the last couple of years have I even felt it as cold.

19 degrees is about average for us this time of year. My part of the state is usually too cold to actually get snow. We are more likely to get freezing rain/sleet and have black ice everywhere, than we are to get a snowfall normally. Now if you go out to the west end of the state, they are well known for getting buried during the winter from the lake effect snow! But for where I currently live... no, we only really get one, maybe two "snows" in a winter, the rest of the time is just bits of flurries or bitter arctic cold air coming in from Canada.

There are times around here that we're actually colder than some parts of Canada in the winter! And we're south of them! LOL

I gotta say, we do have a pretty country with a bit of everything packed into a small package. I love the Bay of Islands where I live, it's gorgeous and perfect if you are a boatie. And why one would live here if one didn't like boats I just cannot imagine. Tomorrow the biggest yachting regatta in NZ starts just along the water from me with over 90 boats racing. Opua will be heaving all week. Once upon a time I was one of the founding organisers but now I get to sit back and watch while others do the work. Bliss!

New Zealand and Australia are two places on my "probably never going to happen" bucket list that I would love to visit. Not the tourist traps, though... I avoid tourist traps like the plague... I want to see the actual country, not the made-up shows put on just to bring in money from supposed rich tourists! LOL

I just cannot imagine being that cold, it would make me cry! I know you do acclimatise to what you live with, I feel the cold now more than I did when I lived in the Waikato...black frosts and fog all winter there. When I go to see my sister I turn into a total wuss.

All of the places I've been to have been sea ports, except Perth. We got there by train from Fremantle. Sydney is large enough of a city that you can avoid the tourist traps if you don't want to see them. The King's Cross is the famous (for the nightlife) area there. The other places I've seen are really nice, Darwin is a favorite of backpackers.

I've never been to Sydney but I love Melbourne. It is such a great place if you like old buildings as I do. Mind you it's also got lots of things that want to kill you unlike my own sweet country where sharks don't bother you and we have one tiny venomous spider who would rather you left it alone.
