There's also this little thing called word of mouth. While many customers may never visit the forums, many of those customers may have been brought to 3d because of a friend. That friend might visit the forums. Or it could be a friend of a friend of a friend. They could belong to Facebook, Google+, deviantart, or some other non forum art type site, and in their connections and explorations there, hear things. It's too much of a social media world now NOT to believe that just because a person never visits a store's forums doesn't mean they don't hear about things that could cost a store their business.

When people are upset at the actions of a store, they don't just post about it at a store's forum. They bring up their discontent everywhere. At work, at home, among friends, on their cell in elevators, every social media they use. Conversations are overheard ... and while most of the time those people won't have any clue what the discussion is about, it's always possible someone will. That person will then spread that little bit of gossip they overheard. Even if they have no clue, they still may spread that little bit of gossip, and someone they share it with just might be a customer.

That's my 2 cents worth anyway :p

And let me tell you, people will spread the bad experiences way faster than the good ones (sadly) The worst possible thing that can happen to a business is bad worth of mouth. My husband is self employed and probably 85% of our business is word of mouth. That's HUGE. And even more so now with social media etc.

I always try and spread things I am very happy with, and not just stuff that I'm not so happy with, but most of the time, the bad news will spread farther and more quickly than anything positive. So you are entirely correct, its going to get to a lot more people than they might expect.

That's because it more natural for people to complain than to praise. If someone makes you mad, you'll fire off a letter or pick up a phone and let them know what's on your mind. On the hand , if things are going swimmingly and everything is working out for you. C'est la vie!

That's not all that bad Earl, as most word processors and/or secretaries were only expected to type around 60 wpm back in the day. It was a secretary's ability to take dictation at 80 wpm that was the big deal back then.

I type well over 100+ wpm. I taught myself to type when I got the job I have now (been there 20 years now lol). I taught myself on an old manual typewriter. Can't say I miss those.... lol. I have friends who ask me type things up for them as they know that not only will I type it far faster than they can, I will most likely correct the spelling and grammar as I go as well.

I learned on an old manual in high school, and switched to an electric during college, while I was on my first job. Not sure how I built up the speed before I got to the law firm, but if I had a nice, easy to work in, keyboard, I was in seventh heaven. :)

I was at the firm for 40 years when I retired, so yes, your 20-year stint at your job certainly helped build up your speed as well. ;)

"The Firm" reminds me of the movie with Tom Cruise. Hope the firm wasn't anything like that! Well, I doubt you'd stay for 40 years if it was.

I finally had to take typing in high school as it and home ec were the only electives available to me. /shudder. I hated both. But then quite a few years later, I started learning how to code in ... /gasp ... basic. A few years after that, we subscribed to TSN, which became INN. (The Sierra Network, The ImagiNation Network) originally by Sierra Games (Obviously). This was "the world's first game-only online environment." Needless to say, "chatting" with dozens of people online was responsible for building my speed.

Though, typing 100 wpm on a computer keyboard really can't compare to typing 100 wpm on an old clunky manual typewriter. And keyboards today are even smoother and easier to type on.

No, in the beginning (think mid-60s) it was an old staid white-shoe firm. In later years it was more like the TV series Suits, but the attorneys weren't quite as aggressive as Harvey and Louis. ;)

Just like to add that it's good to see even more new folks chiming in. Loving their comments of support and all.

Great to see Alessandro and Kendall making some comments too. Much appreciated. Although Kendall was holding off from commenting, I'm very glad that you did.

Word of mouth is very powerful

Does dazzled have a different meaning across the pond?

Though ... I suppose if he were sent to prison and then try to escape, the searchlights might dazzle him.

Kids these days will mangle the language and not get corrected...

all words can have different meanings across the pond

take for example 'That's nice' when used in reply to something that is said like 'Daz dumps HW3D'.

Irish and Australians will know the other meaning of this phrase :devil"

Sorry was it something I said, or the flame thrower I had tucked under my arm?......or was it Stezza's Vegemite ?

Common now!! Lots of awesome comments on here and I have appreciated reading all of them, but ....... I think this sums things up ......... from the movie Spaceballs .............. and a bit of a twist on that but ........ !

Good wins because Evil is Stupid! ..... simple as that!

I think they just realized that they might of pulled the pin on the grenade they were holding and rather than let it explode in their faces they decided to put it back in.

Oh besides !! I fully intend to unleash the HiveWire Naplam Arsenal in my gallery there! Of course they will probably not allow me to post any more, but ......... what the hell!

Yes, I think of dazzle in relation to brilliance (lighting, not intelligence), so more or less like the example Satira gave, or . . . the brilliance of her engagement ring "dazzled" her. ;)
