The Anchorage, Part 3

I just growled at a book cos I'm quarter through it and no-one's dead yet. How am I supposed to figure out who done it if no-one DOES IT?!

And just to make like more interesting my kettle is playing a tune on the fire. There's a background quick drumbeat with a strangulated cat meowing over it.

Has someone done it yet? Did you have a nice cup of tea?
Hopefully your day went well. Mine's just starting here. :)

I'm logged into my work computer, and I've sent the "start of day" email to my supervisor so he knows I'm actually working and not off at the shore.

Now, I'm going to get me a cup of chai and sit back and watch the computer reconcile 5,642 billing records. Which will take until about midday Sunday to complete.

It's a good thing you can do that from home.

After years of promising telecommuting, it was finally implemented. We can now either telecommute 1 or 2 days from home, or we can work four 10-hour days. The techs are able to work four 10s, the developers telecommute two days (because of two new positions in IS, the developers have to share offices), and everyone else in IS can telecommute one day.

Only IS is telecommuting. All other programs took the four 10-hour day option.

Howdo folks!

My book was...odd. Dorothy Sayers wrote some of a book in 1936 and put it aside, never finishing it. Another author picked up where she left off and completed it in 1999. It was underwhelming. But my tea was good :)

The weather has been lovely here the last few days which is good because my gennie starter pull frayed and then one of the bolts burred trying to get the blasted thing off. After an afternoon of swearing I ended up making the existing cord shorter and resolved to pull it so it doesn't fray again. Through these travails mine solar panel kept me going, just. After fighting with the gennie I put the panel on the roof plus a second one that's been waiting for inspiration to strike. They are now both wired in and I wait with interest to see how much boogie they produce. A flashing green light tomorrow will mean sweet as!

Hi Terre! Good aftermorning to you too :)

Green lights are go! Flashing away like anything. I am basking in a glow of self-satisfaction.

Does that mean you'll be able to put the gennie to sleep for good, or are the solar panels just an "additional" option?

The gennie is the backup, Miss B, for when the sun plays hard to get. A couple of day's rain, gloomy winter days, they make the solar less to not affective at all and so the gennie is fired up. The two days I couldn't use the gennie were very fortunately bright and sunny. I'm hoping moving the panel to the roof and adding the other one plus another battery coming tomorrow will boost the capacity of the whole system and lessen my need to use the gennie. However, I'll always have to use it to run my computer...I'd need the whole roof covered in panels and a couple of thousand dollars worth of batteries plus a whopping solar regulator to run that on solar.

AHA, I wasn't sure if that was the case, so I asked.

Well my friends, I am completely knackered. I spent the afternoon rewriting the solar panels with the new cable, finishing at dusk. Tomorrow I'm going to get yet another cable, this one for the regulator to the batteries. I'll have this one done by the pros as it needs special fittings to go on the battery terminals. Matt delivered the extra battery to me this morning but I didn't have time to get it set up today. Onward and upward!

Blasted autocorrect!
Just remember Lorraine, as a CV Bee, you can correct it if you truly wanted to.

Then, of course, folks would wonder what Terre was talking about, so maybe it's best you leave it alone. ;)
