The Anchorage, Part 3

There are a lot of people in town upgrading to metal roofs. Not everyone but a large percentage. Given the amount of damage done between the hail last October and winter storm Goliath there is a lot more work for roofing companies in this area than normal. They have people on waiting lists.

Thanks everyone...I normally work through my lunch times but I have a fourth year preservice teacher who is doing full control this week. This has meant I can get a lot more done while I'm observing her teach.
Good on you, Pen! So not used to seeing you post during a work day and very happy to hear you were not laid low :)
Thanks Lorraine...it is unusual!

How do, everyone :) Winter has arrived in Opua after that long balmy autumn. My fire has been going every day this week and the only reason it's not going now is I'm heading ashore soon and I can't be faffed lighting it twice. So a knee rug, slippers and a warm dressing gown are doing the fire's job!

Summer arrived here yesterday with temps around 90. Only good thing was the humidity wasn't very high, and there was a nice breeze. Today was only in the high 80s and breezy, so not too bad at all.

It's usually the high humidity that sits there for days, without a breath of a breeze, that usually gets to me.

You just described our entire summer where I am. LOL.

Low 80's today - but 90-something percent humidity. It might as well have been 100 degrees out. Our summers are usually humid and high temps! And late July/early August, we will get a two week stretch of 100-103 with 95-98% humidity... most homes here don't even bother to take the plastic off the windows. You need it during the winter to keep the heat in, and you need it during the summer to keep the a/c cool air in! :D

It's icky here and we had a red air quality alert yesterday and an orange today.

The humidity may not have been that high yesterday (could have fooled me though), but when I left work at noon today with a migraine, it was miserable out. And it's even more so inside. Since the humidity is climbing, tonight and tomorrow are going to be even worse. Since it isn't going to actually cool off any with that humidity, I'm going to have to turn on the AC.

Clearly, summer is here.

Winter has hit here also Lorraine...last couple of days the temperatures have been 15C and under and wet. I hate wet weather timetables the kids are off the walls by the end of the day.
