An it did not take long to have a flat side on the wheel since there were no brakes per se. Also, they were easy to spin out with by locking the wheel and shifting your weight. (Not me, my kids had one or three as they grew up.)
Actually, by the time Big Wheel came along, I was a teen riding bicycles. But that flat side of the wheel was one of the first things I realized would happen. I grew up with the traditional tricycle.

I had one like that when I was pretty young. I always thought those Big Wheels were not made to last. Plastic wheels? Maybe if you only rode it on dirt, grass or sand. But concrete sidewals...nope.

Remember this???????
Well, here's finally something I don't recall. One side says this is just too weird. The other side (the crazy, humorous, off the wall side) says I am jealous for not having seen one. I assume powdered milk is involved somehow which we did drink and take on camping trips. Interesting in any case.

This was actually after my time, but I do remember seeing these things advertised on Saturday morning tv.
