Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Starting from Secret Agent Man, each of these songs were my favorites during their time (with the exception of Smoke from a Distant Fire, but the production on it was great, which I knew nothing about at the time).
I have to agree with @xyer0. He hit my thoughts exactly, as this was a great selection of songs I loved back in the days. :)

It took me forever to find him because I couldn't remember his name either even though I knew the character. That's Max Headroom.
Ohhh, now I remember him. I don't think I'd ever remember him without you telling me. :(

I thought Max Headroom was a stupid gag. Interesting that it was computer generated to some degree, but still...not such a great thing. Short lived, too.

The original Max Head room was a tv show about a future where tv networks controlled the airwaves. There was a scandal though with Max where a network was hi-jacked for about eleven minutes or so, and someone wearing a rubber Max Headroom mask was on the air. He didn't say anything though and I don't know if they ever caught who ever it was.

Remember this?????
This sounds like Curtis Mayfield, but it's William DeVaughn, and it's called Be Thankful for What You Got. It was his only big hit. As a child, I had no idea what a diamond in the back was. Later on, I realized it was the diamond-shaped back window on Cadillacs, Oldsmobilies, & Lincoln Continentals popularized by pimps.
