Fight for Survival

In 1984 there were only 23 California Condors left in the world. Thanks to a carefully managed, captive-breeding program, their population rose to over 500. But their numbers are threatened again. By April of this year, 21 of the Condors had died from Avian flu. Heroic efforts are now underway to prevent the spread of this disease, so that the return of the Condors may continue to be one of the greatest success stories in conservation.

Here is one tip that may help you, if you don't know this already. There are 3 diamond-shaped "Controllers" on each wing of Ken's birds (as indicated by the red arrows I have added). When you click on anyone of them, dials for the movements it controls show up under Parameters. This allows you to make fine adjustments.

Another tip that makes the birds come to life is turning their head, so they appear to be looking at something.

Good luck!

I always suggest also looking at the real-life subjects, either in person or via images/videos. Peacocks, for example are easy for me, there's a feral muster of peafowl a few blocks from our house and every couple weeks we have to chase them out of garden (they can harm the wildlife our native garden attracts).

Thanks for the tips Flint!! I will for sure take it into account. Yes, now that you mention it turning the head to look at someone would be a great option to draw the viewer into the scene.

I was not aware of this. Lol so they are kind of like range chickens or ... geese. As I have been chased a time or two by the latter! LOL I will see what I can come up with. Thanks so much for the information on them and I will for sure take it to heart!

I'm building another reader's copy .pdf of a fanfic. One of the characters mentioned in passing is Edgar. A very old greater sooty owl.

Unfortunately, that is not one of the breeds that Ken has released, so far as I know. So I had to fake one from online images and messing with one of the other texture sets from his existing owl packages.
