The Asian Shield Mantis is native to Asia (Thailand and India).

Avocados

The adult Avocado Praying Mantis is noted for the particularly large 'eyes' on the wings of the female. It can be found on Avocado trees, which it protects from pests.

The Mimic

The Pink Orchid Mantis is just one of several species of Mantis that are known as “flower mantis”. Besides its unique physical form it moves with a “swaying” motion, as if being “blown” in the breeze.

Beauty and the Beast

In Mantises sexual cannibalism is common, with the female attacking and eating the male after, during, and even before mating. Eating her mate provides the female with nutrients so she does not have to hunt. The meal also gives her more resources for the faster production of a large egg sac with large eggs, thus increasing the chance of her offspring to survive.
