BACKGROUND:
This image is replete with symbolism and metaphor, as was it's predecessor in the series. There are messages within messages, layered onto each other. This one is heavy in symbolic meaning, and metaphysical ideology. The varies segments of this image were chosen carefully to represent specific ideas, and tie into the greater whole, like a tapestry. The Gregorian depiction of Adam and Eve 'neath the tree of knowledge, the fragment of the ten commandments, the two angels trumpeting in the apocalypse, heaven and hell behind it all... I could spend hours explaining, though I felt when drawing it that they were all self explanatory. If you feel so inclined, let me know what it means to you.
This image was created using Prang colored pencils, with 3.5mm cores. It was rendered on a medium tooth drawing surface, found in a leatherbound, Tara sketchbook (8.5 x 11 inch). The entire piece took me an unknown length of time to complete (perhaps 14 hours). While there are parts of this picture I am not completely happy with, I am very pleased with the overall piece. The depiction of Adam was based from "Study of Architectural Proportions" from Leonardo Davinci's sketches and books.
