BACKGROUND:
The story behind this one is quite involved, so I will give the abridged version. This is not the boogy man, or the monster in the closet in any classic sense, but a statement on the human psyche. The closet represents the dark recesses of the Idd, where we keep our darkest and innermost secrets. It is reflective of the statement "Skeletons in the closet", and the tittle is, in fact, shortened from its much longer tittle "I can guarantee there are no skeletons in my closets...the demons ate them all!". That is, our inner demons, and our secrets, or skeletons if you will, often go hand in hand, but also lay in conflict with each other; if your demons prevail, then you no longer fear your skeletons being revealed and showing your darker side (as it has already surfaced with the demons).
This work was created entirely with a number two, hard lead pencil. It was rendered on a medium tooth drawing surface, found in a leatherbound, eight an one half by eleven inch, Tara sketch book...As always.
