Nice view Mytho. I actually had to check out MapQuest to see where you are. I've always thought of Blackpool and Liverpool as Northern England, but you're quite a bit further north than they are.

We're not actually all that far from Blackpool as the crow flies Miss B, about 20-25 miles, but about 40 miles by train (south to Preston then back north along the coast line). Morecambe's the last town of any size in Lancashire before you reach Cumbria and the Lake District on the other side of the Bay. That's the line of hills in the top view.

Ahhhh, 25 miles isn't really far at all. It's often hard to tell from a map just how far away two locations actually are.

That's part of the Furness coastline Satira which is about the flattest bit of the Lakes, though still bloomin' strenuous to ancient knee's. Barrow-in-Furness is just out of picture on the left. The Isle of Man is a fairly easy day trip away from Heysham Harbour, (at the west end of Morecambe) around four hours by ferry. In fact we're taking Lucy and Sara over for a few days when their mom's finish work next week. It's one of my most favourite places in this old world of ours steeped in Celtic and faerie lore on top of it's incredible beauty! It was the inspiration for Toll Eressea in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.:)

I've only read about Isle of Man. The Isle of Man Cozy Mystery Series by Diana Xarissa takes place on Isle of Man (As one could assume based on the series title).

But ... it sounds absolutely lovely, and I'd love to visit.

It's a place everyone should visit at least once Satira! Once you're away from the hustle and bustle of Douglas (where the ferries dock) it's a different world!

That series by Diana Xarissa looks like fun. I think I might start on it when I finish Salman Rushdie's The Moors Last Sigh! I've just shown Lucy the photo of Laxey Wheel on the cover of the first book and told her that she will be seeing it for real in two weeks time, showed her the steps and told her that by the time we got all the way to the top, it's so high she'll be able to look down and see birds flying past underneath her! She's talking to Sara on the phone now telling her about it. I think she might be wondering whether she'll need to take a parachute

Yeah. I love Aunt Bessie ... who is somewhere between free bus pass (60) and telegram from the Queen (100).

You guys get telegrams from the Queen when you turn 100? That's rather cool.

Well I got the free bus pass Satira, but I'm holding fire about the telegram. What interests me is Her Maj is 91 now, so if she makes the century who'll send her telegram? Answers on a photograph of a postage stamp via airmail please! :whistling:*

*Ah well! Bang go my chances of a knighthood then dammit!

Free bus and train passes would be nice here. But I don't think SEPTA cares how old we are. They just want as much money as possible for the least amount of service possible. Rates are apparently going up again. Soon, it will cost bus/train riders as much to commute as it does for me to drive and park in Center City :p

Oh ... and might I point out that with my exposure so limited to other people since I drive to work, I rarely have a cold or flu. Unlike others who spend an hour or so every weekday crammed into buses and trains.

Sounds great. I doubt I'll ever be on that side of the pond but if I am that'll be a place to visit.

Lovely photos, Myth. And now I know just how you sound when you talk! One of my bestest pals here in Opua arrived by boat some 20 odd years ago and sounds like he left Lancashire yesterday. His wife is a posh London girl but has a lot of his accent after nearly 50 years of marriage. Imagine a very posh Lancashire accent, it's gorgeous. Roger is a product of Blackburn, his dad working in a mill.

And I would LOVE to go to the Isle of Man TT's! Petrol heads unite and mayhem ensues. One of my pals went there one year and came back with stories to make your hair curl.

I just love the way you limey's, kiwi's and roo's talk! I can hear your accent from here in the USA.

Petrol! Posh! I just love it!

Tsuki is SOOO smart!

She ordered toilet paper for me today! I was on my last roll, so planned to try the Dash Button in the next few days. Now, I don't have to! She did it for me!

But, definitely going to move the Dash Button into the bathroom and hang it. It had been under the laptop stand since I got it last week. But I'd moved it from under there so I could slide the laptop under the stand since I telecommute today. So, the Dash Button was just laying there on the desk waiting for her to walk on it.

Which ... she did.

Apparently.

Or else the Dash Button placed the order all by itself. But, since Tsuki has been climbing all over the desk and laptop today, it was most likely her, and not some inanimate object coming to life.
