The Anchorage, Part 3

Lorraine

Hey, Terre :) Yep, all over till 2018 and my shoulder has stopped hurting too! I'm now cozily at home, waiting for my kettle to boil for a cuppa.

I though you might like to see my latest acquisition, new reading glasses.

Very happy to be wearing a pair of glasses that no longer fall off and crash to the floor every two nanoseconds :)

I'm sure. Those are nice glasses. I haven't gone as far as the strap around the neck yet. These pretty much stay on my head all the time, even though I wear them low on my nose because I only need them for reading, so I'm often looking over them.

The strap is mainly the danger of them going swimming without a life jacket or when I take them off to see the teeny tiny print on the phone...as I'm short sighted I can often see better with them off and the reading material held close to my face. Without the strap on my old ones, I ended up sitting on them and you can see how well that turned out  I couldn't have a strap on those but the new ones have a ridge that catches it. All in all, pretty happy with my $19 including postage all the way from the US purchase :)

Oh, and I use my reading glasses all the time on the boat, never my distance unless it's to see something happening outside in the distance. My distance usually only come out of my handbag when I'm leaving the boat.

I don't have distance glasses, as I've always been farsighted, but even though my distance "reading" isn't as great as it was, I don't have a car any more, so don't need that sort of prescription. I told my Ophthalmologist I'd let him know when I start walking into walls. ~LOL~

Hahaha! My problem isn't walls, no, it's boats! They loom out of the dark and require evasive action, sometimes violent evasive action. I've done the run in the past sans glasses...scary  !

Nope, not cool at all. The closest I came to disaster was one pitch black night a day or two after I'd broken my glasses and was waiting for a new pair to arrive. I was nearly home when I suddenly realised there was a dinghy right in front of me, tied to a boat on a longish painter. The sharp turn I made just about tipped me overboard and the dinghy shipped a lot of water. Scared me rigid. I was very lucky and it taught me to slow down when sans glasses in the dark.

Glad it worked out safely, Lorraine. Yikes. >.<

If I don't have working glasses, I don't leave the house, because it's literally too dangerous for me. I'm legally blind without them. LOL I can see about a quarter of an inch from my eyes, and no further without my lenses. ;)
