Too funny Lorraine!

As long as I keep the covers tucked around my feet and my hands under the covers, I'm safe. But, if she can crawl under the blanket she worms herself down to my feet and attacks them. Maybe I should try putting an orange flavored cream on my feet! If it smells strongly enough of citrus, that should discourage her! Cats HATE citrus scent. Unfortunately, the spray I bought for my plants stinks horrendously for a few minutes and then the scent totally disappears. So for a few minutes, she would keep her distance.

Though, now my plants are in cages (aka Whitmore Black Storage Cubes) and she can't get to them. Though, it's the funniest thing to see her climb the "cage." I put the cubes together two wide and three high and the opening against the wall. It's remarkably sturdy!

She does...part of my routine in the morning is I feed her and then go and get dressed. Before I even start to get changed she is there meowing at me to hurry up! I think that's her way of dealing with me going to work.

Hey, you all. :) Thank you so much for the comments on the avatar. Pauline can be an interesting figure.

Love to everyone, and thanks so much for the welcomes, too. I appreciate them.

Satira, do you have a new kitty? Tsuki? If so, I hope she brings you much joy!

I hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend. :)

Hi Jan, hope you have a great weekend too. Ours is half over and mostly consisted of humidity and drizzle. Fingers crossed for a cool southerly change and some good night's sleep. :inverted:

Oh yes Jan. I have a 4+ old kitten terrorizing my plants and me. I adopted her in January, about a month after I lost Taeyn to an aggressive malignant tumor.

This is my plant cage. Tsuki just today successfully climbed to the top of the cage.
Poor plants suffered so ... including being confined in the dark inside the stereo cabinet for several days.
The donkey tail suffered the most as it was in the window sill, and she kept landing in it when she'd jump up to the window sill. The slightest touch and the leaves fall off. I finally moved it to the top of the stereo cabinet ... where it was knocked off and the pot broken.
The spider plant originally lived on top the TV. When I moved the tall (and now very scraggly) unknown plant beside it, Tsuki would crawl into and over its pot to get to the tall plant. Of all my plants, that's the one she is most infatuated with.
The Pothos is currently on top the water cooler around the corner in the kitchen.

Here she is about 10 minutes later after climbing down after the wheatgrass directions fell into the cage and then climbing back up. She seems to be rather proud that she's now figured out exactly how to climb to the top of the cage.

I'm tempted to buy another set of two and create a play cage for her to climb around inside. Add in a couple cushions here and there and she'd have a rather inexpensive cat tree.

She's a little beauty. :)

I am so sorry you lost Taeyn. I remember she'd been sick, bless her.

The cat tree idea sounds good!

And here she is ... back on the cage, with a pillow to sleep on.

She hasn't really figured out how to climb back down after reaching the top. She can't back down as she did previously when she was just climbing nearly to the top.

Ooopsie. Guess I forgot to hit post. Or else I did and I'm about to post a duplicate!

Yes. Taeyn struggled with thryoid medication for a year. Unfortunately, she was in that small percentage of cats who experience the facial itching side effect. So, we finally had no other option but diet or the radioiodine treatment (which would destroy the tumor). I don't believe Science Diet is a reputable company (especially as they claim their diet cures the condition ... which is false) or that they make healthy pet food. So, I opted for the treatment instead. She was scheduled for the radioiodine treatment the week after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, in the two months between making the appointment and when her appointment arrived, the tumor became malignant, and the treatment was no longer an option. Neither was chemo. It happened SOOO fast. With the medication or diet, there is a (supposedly small) risk the tumor will become malignant.

Ok. I promise I'm done posting kitty shots.

She fell off the cage about an hour after that picture. I heard a thump, and turned around to find her on the floor looking at me like I'd knocked her off! She's now sleeping inside her carrier, which obviously is a safer place for napping ;)

She's looking adorable on top of your plant cage. Sorry to hear she fell off. Ouch that had to hurt!

So cute...hasn't she grown! That first picture looks like she is eyeing off your watering can.

Oops...cats generally land well thank goodness.

She managed to knock the box off a few hours later, which is when I put a pillow on top instead. The box was originally supposed to discourage her from climbing up the side. But, I decided if she wants to climb, go for it.

I think though, her favorite spot to sleep in under the lamp near the computer. I guess it's warmer than me :( Since she's decided I'm only for playing with and not snuggling with.

She has grown so much! Wow! I like the plant cage, I wish I could get those here, they would make great boat cupboards.

And hey everyone! Hope your day/night/morning/arvo is going nicely. Mine will be spent watching videos as the weather is still wet and humid.

She has grown! Though it depends how much on whether I'm wearing my glasses or not. With my glasses, she's bigger :p

They would make great boat cupboards.

She might just be one of those cats that aren't snuggle kitties. From what my husband was reading recently a lot of cats actually don't like curling up on a lap and taking a nap.

So true! My cat does not like lap naps at all. But both he and my daughters cat love to sleep on the back of the couch so that they are right next to your face.

I have to comment on Science diet- all the vets I know say it is one of the worst companies as far as false claims go. If you check out Dr. Karen Becker on Mercola healthy pets, there is some well researched info on the best diets for a healthy, long lived cat. OOh, and Little Big Cat website is really good too, and she has links to my favorite cat nut, the one and only Jackson Galaxy....

As I sit here all alone (sad violin music playing in the background) with no cat and no dog and not even a rabbit or a guinea pig, I do envy those of you with them. I haven't had a pet anything ( I don't think you can include the silverfish who lurk behind the fridge) since I moved aboard in 1996. And now I'm getting to a stage and time when I want a furbaby to live with me. I would really like a little bichon/maltese cross...hypoallergenic, able to jump up and down through the wheelhouse, not heavy to lift in and out of the dinghy, cuddly, intelligent and friendly. I am on the hunt.

OOOH! A boat doggie. Like Po Thang! Hopefully, your boat doggie won't fall in love with a dolphin.

Taeyn wasn't a lap kitty at all either. Sushi was. As Tsuki has gotten older (yeah, ok. She's only a month older), she's not as snuggly as she was. Instead, she's fixated on chewing me to death. So ... I'm hoping that's just a phase she will grow out of and will again find me a cuddly source of heat instead of a tantalizing toy.

Yes, a boat doggie :) Wouldn't that be just swell?! Then when I'm talking away it won't technically be talking to myself cos boat doggie would be sitting there listening carefully in case I mention FOOD :D
