I am SO glad you're back!

Steampunk is what I got it for, Rokket. I'm going to start up the gennie shortly and will report my findings.

Aha! That's right. There are no textures in the zip file. That's why I didn't use it. Was the mat file only for poser? Cos it doesn't load anything in DS.

Ohhhhhhh... shoot I forgot you were a DS user. Yeah, it was only for Poser. I was new at uploading freebies when I did that, and I forgot to add Poser only in the blurb. Sorry about that.

If anyone would like to tackle the materials for DS, I'll let you have the credit for it. I will upload it to ShareCG tonight (about 6 hours from now), so it will be available for someone well versed in everything DS to do their magic.

I don't mind doing the textures but where actually are they? Are they what come with Poser?

Rokket

There should be a folder in the runtime labelled "materials". Inside of that is a Poser mc6 file. That is the materials.

Well I am just deflated.

I went to my room to wash my hands. I grabbed the towel off my chair to dry my hands. It seems that I was looking for something on my desk and moved the harddrive I have EVERYTHING on to the chair. It was on top of the towel.

You can guess what happens next, or do I have to spell it out through the tears?

Bottom line, if you want the Gutenburg press, I am going to have to repackage it from my runtime.

And all the rest of my freebies are gone. I can replace most of them. But there are a couple I don't know if I can reproduce them.

Oh NO!!! I know exactly how you feel....Can you take the drive out of the case and attach it to your computer that way...I have saved many an item when doing it that way...

Rokket

Dances with Bees
I tried that. No good. Nothing. And I am overseas and can't take it to someone to try to recover the data.

I can still upload the Gutenberg Press. It was one of the few things I actually imported into Poser. But the rest is gone. It's ok. I am taking this as a sign of change. It's time to put out some new stuff that is better made and actually needed...

Oh, no! :/ That is never a fun thing to have happen, ugh!

Maybe change is a good thing, but ugh that's not a fun way to go about it at all!

No, it's not. And the loss of my freebies isn't the worst thing. There were pictures, videos and a few other things on there that I will never be able to get back. Well, maybe the videos, but not the pictures. They were off my phone right before it died.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. I've had major data losses like that in the past... it's why I keep everything backed up in at least two, three if possible, different places these days. I lost an almost completed novel in an HD crash, along with a huge library of content a few years ago. In with that went quite a few family photos, some of my grandfather's scanned in military stuff (things like his Battle of the Bulge certificate...) that were unrecoverable as well. I definitely understand, and it sucks. :/

Since I travel so much for work I can't usually keep a lot of stuff with me. The one or two externals I carry with me have a lot of stuff on them. My runtimes are stored on DVD at home. The stuff I put on this harddrive was recent. Now it's gone. Too bad. I will be starting over. The Gutenberg press will be the first thing I upload to ShareCG. The next will be Rey's outfit for Dawn. So it's a new beginning...

Right then! There is nothing you can do about the hard drive RIGHT NOW. But DO NOT throw it away. Put it somewhere safe until you get back to the States or somewhere else where you can get data recovery. All may not be lost though it is for now. Been there, bought the blasted tshirt, twice.

Rokket

Dances with Bees
Oh I won't throw it away. I can actually get a recovery service in the Philippines while I am there. The problem is I think I broke connections that powers it up when it's plugged into a USB port. I am fairly certain the disc is intact inside.

Lorraine

The Wicked Witch of the North
Well that's good! As long as the disk is intact. Fingers and toes crossed.

Now, back to Gutenberg's press. I do have the mat file but it doesn't do anything in DS. Why is that? Is it procedural? Whatever it is, it doesn't work in DS and DS also can't see the textures. Does the mat file CONTAIN the textures as well as apply them? Would I need to find some new textures? I do have a pretty large texture collection so it may not be hard. But it would then look unlike your textures and so on and so forth.

Rokket

Dances with Bees
Um... let me open Poser and take a look. I think for the most part they are procedural shaders and no texture maps. As I said, I was in a hurry to get this posted and used some shaders that bagginsbill made and posted on his site. I believe because the way that DS reads materials being so different than Poser may be why you can't see them. If you want to apply your own textures, be my guest. The only thing I ever don't want someone to do with any of my models is redistribute them as their own. A DS user downloaded my custom chopper and since it was all procedural he applied his own textures to it. It looked nothing like mine, but it was still cool to see it.

Rokket

Dances with Bees
One more thing.... I am not sure if I UV mapped the model.

I tell you what.... I am going to go back and work on it some more. I will UV map it, fix any errors and then repackage it. I'll have it up on ShareCG sometime after the Superbowl....

Lorraine

The Wicked Witch of the North
Ah mate, I didn't want you to have to do THAT! But I'm not going to tell you not to. Just one question. What is a super bowl?
