Oooo, the Aeronauts' Windlass looks reall good! I love steampunk so it's now on my wishlist, thanks for the link!

My aunt down in Auckland owns everything Nora Roberts has written, including all of the JD Robbs...and that is a LOT of books. I'm slowly working my way through them ;)

So much for the Grand Sophy, she's been put in the heap to finish later as I've started reading a McKinley book, Beauty, instead, a take on the Beauty and the Beast fairytale.
I thought you would like it...my husband is really into steampunk. Yep...it's a lot of books. She has her own bookcase. 5 shelves tightly stacked and I don't have them all mainly the later books I have.

I have way too many books I just realised I have Beauty and also Hero and the Crown! I knew the name was familiar. I haven't read them in a long time. Tooo many books...that's why I use the kindle. I've run out of storage space we have over 10 bookcases worth of books...I could never leave on a boat unless it was the size of a house. I'd have no where to put my books....

Too true Miss B it would be a difficult thing to do but not impossible in this day and age...

On the big screen, definitely, but on TV? I don't think advertisers would appreciate it at all, and since they're paying to have their products advertised, the network showing the series would have to bow to them if they want to earn enough money to continue making the series.

Cable networks get away with a lot a standard network wouldn't, but I still don't see them filming it as written in the books.

Haha! That's so funny! I really want to get more of her books, she has a quirky way of writing that really appeals to me. I just wish she hadn't got bored with the Damar books. Sigh, authors aren't supposed to get bored with their creations :)

The books got first dibs on all the storage when I moved aboard. And even now they have far more than anything else...in a couple of places they are four deep  I have got rid of a lot as I've replaced them on the kindle...my Agatha Christie books alone filled two shelves and now they don't. But there are a lot here I will never part with, even my in a whole lot of pieces Grand Sophy. They've been with me most of my life and Shannon will have the pleasure (?) of sorting through them one day ;)

I finally gave up and started donating books to the local public library. I gave them about 160 in 2014, and another 150 last year. I still have over 200 I need to get rid of this year, especially now that I've gotten over 300 books on my tablet through an online service called BookBub.

I think America may be a little different to Australia in this. I can't really comment on America but I wouldn't have thought it an issue over here.

No...their not. They should finish series as Miss B said.

Giving them to the library is a great idea, Miss B. Ours won't take second hand books so they go down to the cruising club or the laundry free for the take away. I was told I should have sold my Agatha Christie books as they are worth a few dollars each. But as I got a lot of them for 50c or a buck or two in second hand or charity shops, I don't begrudge giving them away.

I surely forgot to respond to you about Book Bub, my bad. I use it too, but generally just to get the free ones as a lot of the ones on sale are not down here. Which is annoying when I get all excited about a book and it's full price, :(

Yes, I won't spend more than 99¢ for any of them. I ignore those that are more expensive, even though there on sale.

What I like is I'm discovering authors I've never read before, and that's a good thing.

I haven't seen bookbub I will have to check it out...I like trying the free ones. Every now and then you'll come across a gem.

I agree. You go to their site and choose which genres you're interested in, and they send a daily email with links to eBooks at Amazon. I click on the links I'm interested in, and that takes me to Amazon where I can read more about the books and decide which ones, if any, I want. Easy Peasy. :)

Cool...I normally go through the free books on Amazon and also the $2-3 ones. That was how I found Elizabeth Hunter...

That's the usual price range for the BookBub books, free up to $1.99, and an occasional $2.99, though those are usually by well known established authors. I saw one by James Patterson on my list recently, and he would get the $2.99 price. Luckily, I had already read the book. ;)

I like the Belgarian books and have all up to The Riven Codex.
I didn't get the next series he came out with because I was disappointed with Belgarath the Sorcerer. I understand that having each of the new followers pick up magic faster and faster is amusing but demand internal consistency. Ret-conning Beldin's story just because of the Rule of Funny doesn't cut it for me. It had already been established that his first act of sorcery was to blow up a tree because he was furious with Belgarath and that is the story that should have been in Belgarath's book.

Hi Terre :) The latter books he and his wife wrote weren't worth the paper they were printed on. They seriously dropped the ball and haven't really been heard from since. But the Sparhawk series was written before them and is as good as the Belgarion series. Do try it, you won't be disappointed.

The only James Patterson book I've read is Murder House but I did enjoy reading it.

Unfortunately it wasn't due their dropping the ball but this Fantasy master David Eddings dies aged 77
His Sparkhawk series really is excellent Terre...it has a wonderful sense of humor throughout the texts.

I've got a huge list of James Patterson books I've read. I think I read Murder House, but not sure. My favorites are his Women's Murder Club books. Very enjoyable, then again, I like all his books. ;)

Wow, I am really sorry to read that. But my comment about his latter books still stands. They were really not up to the standard of his two series. The humour disappeared and they were more like text books. But very sad to read of his death.
