The Anchorage, Part 3

The Wicked Witch of the North
Sunny warm and balmy Friday here in Opua. All my doors, ports and hatches are open to get that balmy breeze flowing below decks. My basil on the window ledge is sprouting, it's always a rush to see that first teeny tiny leaf poke through the soil at the beginning of the season :)

Cinema's are not the only places either. The kids have been asking about visiting Legoland at Alton Towers but....

The entry price worked out at £258 for five of us (£52.80 per adult which includes Sara because she's 12 years old) and £42.80 for Lucy. Throw the cost of transport and food into the mix and thats a pretty expensive day out. Mind you the rides are free they say!!!

Ahhhh, that makes more sense for sure, but even then, that's really expensive. I don't recall every paying that much of an entry fee back when the World's Fair was here. Of course that was decades ago, so now-a-days I'm sure it would be more expensive.

That's probably comparable to the prices we'd pay for the "Shows" we have (ummm I think "Fair" or "Carnival" would be the closest US equivalent?) and I don't think the rides are "free" either.

*groan* Why do ideas snow ball? And house work hurt so much?
Had idea for render, need Dawn Character so make skin and think about how to do morph, turns into enough options for a product, she needs some bling, so make pendant, prop or conforming item? Add it to Character pack either way. Need pose for her and Harry, make pose, end up making some more, humm make poses for Dusk and Dawn to go with them could put it out as a pack. Need prop for one of the poses, make prop, humm freebie or make more along same lines and put out that as a pack too? Back to render idea, Dawn still needs other prop, hmm could do clothing too oh and what about a mini environ? Humm some things could work for Sweet deals, plus stacking options............... Where is the off button! Help!

All that plus house work and I haven't even sniffed a coffee to day lol

Six of one and half a dozen of the other isn't it? The free rides are just a PR babble way of saying, we won't charge you to go on them but we're sure as hell gonna charge you an arm and a leg to get to them! What narks me, in particular, is why they consider a 12-year-old an adult unlike every other theme or pleasure park in the UK!

Go on Dreamer! You know you want to. Just sit down with a cup of coffee (or two) while you plan it all out then...have another coffee while you double check! :whistling:

LOL Nope, got a rum and coke to drink while I whip though some testing before I go get us dinner, after that I will get the Dusk poses set up and then all I have to do is thumb nails for the pose pack.
I think for now the props can get packed up with the poses, just need to make the second one lol

Did anyone else get the Harvest Moon? If you saw it, our Moon was HUGE in the night sky. If you're living in Alaska, I would think you get to enjoy it a little earlier and a little longer than the rest of us. Here in California, it is amazing!

Yes indeed. That's the way it was when we went to Disneyland when Jason was 7. Which would have been 1983. We paid an entry fee to get into the park, and the rides were "free."

Harder to remember with the County and State fairs because I only went to them as a child, but I vaguely remember the entry fees being a consideration in whether we'd go or not. With four kids, it was a lot of money ... even if it wasn't as much as Disneyland (which was never an option when I was a kid). Once in, you then had to pay for a stack of ride tickets.

Oh no! Sleep is one of the few things that isn't bad for you. I need a lot more now that I'm not a spring chicken anymore. That Moon was BRIGHT! Poor @Mythocentric It's always overcast over there so I doubt they got to see it.

@Satira Capriccio I (We've) been fortunate. We always got compensation tickets. The rides were free (It's been ages since we went) and I was fortunate that my son actually preferred Knotts Berry Farm which is a lot more affordable for a family and the food will only cost you an arm as opposed to an arm and a leg. However, one thing that is still free for all is the fireworks display. Sweetheart had been feeling poorly again but instead of taking her home we did a drive by of Disneyland. Caught the Fireworks display just at the right moment. For those that don't live near a Disneyland or Disneyworld, they have a big fireworks show every night at around 9:30. When my son was still an egg, I could go to his room to check on him and he'd be watching the Fireworks from his bed. As soon as the fireworks were over, he'd say, "Fireworks over. Time for Bed." He'd pull the covers over him and sleep the sleep of the innocent.

Current cost for Disneyland is 96 American dollars for kids, 105 dollars for adults. If you are crazy enough to park on site, that's 20 bucks an hour to a maximum of 60 dollars. Take the tram or have a friend drop you off.

Pirates like Johnny Depp are cool but pirating Depp's movies is so uncool. But then I think smoking is a disgusting issue. I was talking to someone today and he was telling me he found a way to watch pirated movies. I do not like that. I do not like that people pirate 3D and 2D content. It is very discouraging to hear about pirating "just because everyone is doing it".

I rather go to the movie theatre or wait till I can watch it legally. What next is cool? Shoplifting or texting and driving?

I was reminded of this because of Ken Gilliland’s latest dragonfly venture…

When the girls were little, we lived by the Leeds and Liverpool canal close to a turning pool (a wider section where barges were turned!) which had reverted to nature with extensive reed beds. The far bank was inhabited by a pair of swans, and their little ones in season, so we used to take the girls, aged two and three, to sit on a bench and watch them and other birds, like coot’s, etc. This particular day, with the early evening sun behind us, we sat on the bench with Amanda watching mommy swan with her three cygnets in tow. Emma meanwhile, had decided to explore and look at the wild flowers growing along a stone wall. All was peaceful until we heard Emma yell, and turned to see an excited young lady running along the towpath as fast as her little legs could carry her. She arrived and started pulling at us telling us to, “Come quick! See!” Mom asked her what she’d found and she answered, “Some fairies! Come see!” before running back to peer intently into the reeds, practically bouncing with excitement. We joined her and soon spotted a cloud of brilliant green dragonflies hovering just above the reeds. I don’t know how long we stood there but the look on those kiddies faces was a pure joy to behold!

Leave it to our children to find such joy in nature! That was an excellent story, Myth!
