The male version is really neat. I think Dusk could definitely use something like that. I don't think that I ever considered a male version of the Cheongsam either. The first one you showed looks like the modern male version. Very cool.
Yes, I think that could work with a nice pair of silk pants.

I like the idea of a cheongsam style jacket for Dawn as well.

That would look so cool in Superfly using a velvet shader.

Looks good Earl. Velvet's not really a fabric used for Cheongsam, but the above style would definitely look good in velvet.
The velvet shader would be used because of it's light properties. I'd use it probably with a mix shader, a glossy shader, and an image map with a Chinese design.

I had to go study the buttons on this style of clothing to see how they were made so I can model them better. I'm going to stop posting here because I think I inadvertently derailed the thread.

Lovely work AD! Pity there isn't a DS version of the outfit...so I'll have to admire from afar.

Great idea Earl...I would model the shape and then add details rather than trying to actually model the knot. For example start the middle section with a cube with lots of smoothing so it becomes round, then extrude the two sides. Detailing would be easy with something like Zbrush...not sure how it would be best to do in Blender though. Does Blender have sculpting tools?
