Just for fun? WIP LAMH fur for the Hivewire Housecat, rendered in Iray. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. The fur thickness is 80-30 here, but 50-10 looks good for close-ups. The combined fur amount was less than 1500,000 fibers Ouch. (Edit: Kitty is floating in this render. Whoops! )
I'd LOVE to do some textures (I'd love to do a Bengal) but finding decent references is not going well and getting me down! I thought maybe polypainted would be okay, but it just doesn't look good enough without actual fur.

I was going to do some rabbit textures so posted a notice on Facebook and found a rabbit owner who brought her rabbits out for me to take pictures of. Maybe you could try something like that. Bengal textures would be so cool!

I would rather know how long the fibermesh export took. Render times don't change too much, but waiting for the geometry to generate takes AGES!

@VortigensBane It took about 5 minutes to export and roughly 15 minutes to render. Without fur it took about 5. So not too bad!
@Chris Let me improve it (read:redo it) and I'll offer it as a freebie, like Alessandro has on his site. It's no better than the MilCat presets he has on there. I need to do a long-haired one too. I redid the render! Feel free to put it up on FB. Kitty's not floating anymore.

@Saiyaness Your computer must be a LOT more powerful than mine! When I exported my fur preset for the kitten, it took almost 30 minutes to generate the fibermesh. And for a full horse preset? Forget it! 7 million strands takes almost 45 minutes. I endure it only because Harry looks so much nicer afterwards...
I remember hearing rumors that the HiveWire Housecat is the next one scheduled to migrate. Maybe if I get my real-life moving done, I can get myself moving figuratively-speaking on the kitten fur preset so that it will be "finished" around the same time.

I don't have a Bengal, but I do have an Egyptian Mau which is (I think) the only breed of cat that is naturally spotted. The granddaddy of all kitty breeds.
He's pretty mellow and I might have to catch him on a good sunny day so I can take some photos (it's pretty gloomy today).
Not a rumor
. They've already been submitted (House Cat, Kitten, and Laurie's Orange Tabby). Just waiting for it to get through their process and into their store.
