The Anchorage, Part 3

I just can't stop snickering about this... Genesis 8.
Damn this new math.
I think it's a HUGE mistake. Now if you say 'G8' people will think you're talking about some industrial conspiracy. And if you say 'V8' people will think you're talking about vegetable juice. It's all doomed, further burdened by the need for backward compactability.

8? Shouldn't they be on 4 or 5 now? Of course I haven't paid any attention to them in the last couple of years so my count could be wayyyyyy off.

Sooo ... I had an appointment at noonish today for a root canal evaluation. Turned out, I actually had the root canal. However, since I'd already done my homework and had read reviews for this place, I knew there was a possibility they might actually do the root canal. I also needed to have the root canal done before the end of the month because our insurance runs July to June, and this way the root canal would be covered with this year's benefits, and the crown would be covered under next year's, which should leave me benefits for my four periodontist visits.

I'd also researched what kinds of foods I could eat after a root canal, so I also shopped accordingly. I have potatoes (for mashed potatoes), bananas for smoothies, and ice cream ... and not much else. I also picked up applesauce from CVS when I picked up the antibiotic prescription. I asked for antibiotics since a rash on my leg has flared up and I can't tell yet whether it's cellulitis. I see my regular doctor next Friday, but ... I don't want to risk an infection with my tooth when I may already have an infection elsewhere.

Granted, I don't plan to be touching the rash and then the tooth :p Or any other part of my body. But, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

It wasn't as horrifying as I expected. But I had a lot of trouble getting my stress down. Though once he started work, I finally was able to start relaxing. Now of course, my jaw is starting to ache. I'm to take 600 mg of advil at mealtimes and bedtimes (four times a day) for four days. Gosh. That's a lot of Advil!!!

when I hear V8 I think of motors :p

Terre, I think its because the wanted to catch up to the V numbers and that Genesis 4 would get mixed up with Generation 4 (V4). I think Centaur 7 was a prelude as there were nothing previous to C7.
So it kinda goes: Millennium 1, 2, 3, 4 (which people also call Generation 1-4 which includes V1-4 & M1-4); Genesis, 2, 3 (V5-7 & M5-7) and Genesis 8 (only V8 so far but you know M8 will follow shortly).

You're probably right about their not wanting to confuse Genesis 4 with Generation 4, but they could've easily made it Genesis 5 instead of Genesis 8.

As far as Centaur 7, that's still part of Genesis 3, even though it's the first ever Centaur character, which was probably based, in part, on Mike 7.

Having had several root canals over the years, though it's been quite a while, I can empathize. My problem was always finding the money, as my old firm didn't offer a dental insurance plan along with it's regular health insurance plan.

Yes they could have Miss B but I think they took the opportunity to align the number with the Vic & Mike numbers. (They did the same with Windows 10, they left out 9 so it wouldn't get confused with Windows 98)

Great! Now we can all look forward to brand-new revamps of all the previous revamped figures along with all the extra cash required to replace all those now outdated previous incarnations along with another wodge of PR-babble telling us all how new and exciting it all is!

It does raise an interesting scenario though! I .e. Hold handgun in right hand, pull back and release slide, release safety catch, point at foot and gently squeeze trigger!

Hmmmmm, I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose that could've been what they were thinking.

That does make sense. I'd been wondering why there was no 9.
 As long as they're the ones shooting themselves in the foot. :D
Agreed. LOL
I can see how something like that might make it easier for some customers but it could be quite confusing for others.

Satira, I hope you recover smoothly and without complication.

:balloon03: Amen to that! Best wishes to Satira and Lyne for your speedy recoveries! :grouphug:

Well. The Big D are the only ones waving armaments around Miss B (along with some of the less-intelligent factions on the various forums who will slavishly emulate their hero's no doubt!). Personally I will be interested to see how this plays out on the 3D shopping sites over the coming months, both from a vendors and buyers perspective. I must admit I'm sometimes glad to be old enough not to be bothered by the antics of corporate thinkers unless it has a detrimental effect on a large part of the market. You only have to look at the community inspiration of the Hive to see the futility (and ultimately self-defeating) of that little game.

I like seeing the mix of artists and programs used here. :)
Also nice is the fact that if a content maker doesn't know another program well enough to make more than one version of a model they don't get griped at for it (at least not that I've seen). People accept reality and live with it.

:yeahthat: Well put that Lady!

On another note! Can anyone out there tell me why it's pouring down here when the Met Office have promised sunny days with temperatures in the 30's? Only I'd like to know because I've got to go out in search of a new walking stick tomorrow, and while I like rain in theory I'd much rather watch it from the comfort of shelter (preferably with ample supplies of coffee!) rather trying to swim along the pavement! Oh poons!

Hi Pen. :) I hope things are going better for you now.
Thanks Terre I still got times where my stomach just starts to churn and I get really anxious but it's slowly improving. At least now reports are done and I'm looking forward to a break in two weeks time.

Damn this new math.
Almost as funny as Apple's feline numbering system.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the emails today from Daz...I know I'm way behind. More interested in checking out the new version of ZBrush anyone tried the new version yet? I don't seem to have new links yet for the new version.
