Here's another or my nutty ideas...

I'm not sure I like the idea of blinking text. Aside from the fact it's so 1990s, some folks have visual problems with anything animated, so just putting it in bright red bold text, maybe in a slightly larger font size as well, should be enough warning. Oh and you can make it solid caps, which stands out even more than just initial caps.
I had some of my best times in the 90's.:inlove:

Anyway, here's the same warning with the blinking text gone but this time applied to plants.
Vendors listed on this page make Plants and other botanical related content for Poser . Such content may be conidered offensive by some people and inappropriate by others particularly in certain enivironments and around children. Vendors names will be linked to their product pages or the site where their products are sold. We urge you to please consider where you are and who is around you while you are viewing this material.

I know, I know. A warning... about plants? Really? What about alien plants, or Venus Flytraps, or Audrey 2 from the Little Shop of Horrors. It's a generic warning, but applicable across the board.

You are kidding right? I mean warnings about plants being possibly offensive! I know we are in a politically correct era, but how can plants be considered offensive when they are merely natures products?

Well, so is sex Bonnie, and chilbirth. But some people don't like seeing either. It's just a warning of what some one might see.

Anything that is linked from our forums here needs to be a "safe" landing page. HiveWire 3D is meant to be family-friendly, meaning I can send my nieces, nephews and grandchildren here to check something out without worry that they might be exposed to something they are not ready for. I will never again be shamed for what I do for a living because so many associate it with porn.

What is seen on regular television programming, such as Audrey 2, is fine. We want this to be a place where all are welcome and no one feels triggered by controversial content.

I'm a Poser user so everything I make (or have ever made) has a Poser version and most of my older stuff is Poser only. And I like the idea of having a place to find Poser content as I too dislike wading through pages of DS stuff to find stuff I can use.

Don't worry, Lisa. While I'm doing a lot of planning and such here, rest assured that I will not be posting any links to other sites in this forum. And I'm asking anyone who wants to send me a link to a vendors site or store to contact me via private message.

Thanks so much, Earl.

Flipmode still makes new content for Poser, as does Jack Tomalin.

Add Forbidden Whispers and David Brinnen to that list as well.

Thanks for adding that, I have some of their stuff but I was really not sure if it was new content or old products and they had moved on.

I mean what makes plants or plant life offensive to people? I just don't get it.

I can understand your confusion but I can also see that some of the stuff over at Renderotica may be plant based but I would not regard it a natural and I can well see how it could offend.

Can you guys think of anything that needs to be added to the list of categories? I'm kind of thinking of adding Sci-fi and Fantasy as a separate category. Or may be I should do subcategories. What do you think?

These are the content categories I have now. Each category has it's own html page already. I just have to start adding the vendors names to the proper category, then adding the links to their products.
**Content Categories**
*Vendors are listed under the category for which they make content. A vendor may be listed under several categories.*

Oh I get it now. Never heard of renderotica until now. :whistling:

It might be 90's tech but it still gets your attention, which is exactly what I want it to do.

No reason why you should, I can't remember how I found it, I think it must have been mentioned in another forum but I know I had been playing for 3D art for about ten years before I fell across the site. I am no prude but some of the stuff there not only shocks me but makes me feel uneasy, although some of the stuff I just find very amusing. What I do find though is some products you cannot get elsewhere, if you are writing a story, be it fantasy or sci-fi there has to be some danger in the plot and some romance even sex. Products there help such story lines and if I am honest it is not the products that I find offensive but the use they are put to in some of the comic books there. Then again I might be being over sensitive.

Looks fairly extensive, what about materials or would that be covered under Merchant Resources? Depend how big the list gets but Vehicles can be broken down to sub heading of Land, Sea and Air. Not sure on how best to list Sci-fi and fantasy as it can cut across almost all of those categories.

As can textures and materials. The reason I was thnking of adding a Sci-fi and Fantasy category is because several vendors do that almost exclusively, and it makes stuff easier to find. I can also break them down into even further sub categories like spaceships, robots, etc.

Yep take your point regarding textures and materials. My runtimes are broken down in much the way you describe, one for Space Craft, Space, Robots and so on, but then I am heavily into sci-fi, so your sub categories make sense to me.

The 90s tech comment was an aside Earl. My main point was about folks with visual problems caused by anything animated.

I can't see how *WARNING!! isn't as noticeable as blinking text. How large a percentage of folks visiting your Poser Content list will be visiting the Adult Content is hard to predict, but all you need is just one person with a visual impairment caused by animated objects, and there will be a problem.

I'm not ranting here Earl, as I have my Web Design and Development certification, and one of the classes I had to take was Web Accessibility, which concentrates on designing web sites so that anyone with any kind of disability will have no problems accessing a site's content. You may think I'm going overboard for just one word on several pages of content, but it's something I've always considered with a new site design.

Just my 2¢, FWIW.
