Odd Technical question - UVsharing

Heyas
I have 5 base models. I would like them all to have very similar uvmapping, however the polycount and shape is different for each one. The main areas of the model are the same asiding head and feet for the most part

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to do this that does not involve zbrush? (since I dont have it)

Just to be clear do you basically want them to be able to use the same UV templates? I'm trying to learn how to adjust UVs in Blender, and I could image you would be able to do that in Blender with a lot of work, although I'm not sure if there is a way to place a reference image under your UV so that you could make sure they match.

well I'd like the arms, legs and body at least to be close so it will be less work for people to support the various figures. Right now I'm doing it the old fashioned way .. mapped all of them and I'll be matching the uv's manually to the base figure's template. I was just wondering if there was a faster method. The eyes though are going to be 100% matched so they can share eye maps at least.

Hi Lyrra, that sounds like what happens when people create alternate uv's for DS. I do know that Slosh uses UV Layout to do it and that there is something in there that helps match them up a bit but that's all I know. I keep intending to try and find some time to match Dawn's to V4 and save them as alternate uv's...but I'm still learning to use UV Layout more fully. I can do the basics in there and that's about it.

Your welcome and thanks for the link...there is very little about how this in done at least for DS alternate uv's.
