Share CG Closing down

Truly Sad news, as Share CG has been there since I started using Poser, and now it is closing down.

To my knowledge this is the last hug freestuff site with dedicated Poser, Daz, and 3DS searches that are easily navicable and losing this is losing a huge resource in the Poser community. What a shame.

This morning it seems to be gone, leaving only a page full of server warning messages. I tried the Wayback Machine but of course you can't use your login credentials there, so there would be no downloads even if they'd been archived.

I had been in the process of checking through the older posts in case there was anything I'd missed, but there was just too much. Some of those creators didn't post anywhere else, and some will inevitably no longer be with us. A sad day indeed.

I have been unable to access it from the moment of learning this. I had been trying since seeing that thread at Rendo and was also only getting pages of warning messages and errors from the server.

I feel particularly sadened as several weeks ago I recovered my old favorites links from my previous 3 PC hard drives, dating back to the late 90s, and tested all of the old 3D and Poser links to find almost all of them gone. Great sites ad resources for 3D content that have been swallowed by time and lost. The Internet just keeps shrinking and the 3D corner of it has fewer and fewer places to turn to. Now more than ever the process is speeding up it seems, and it very much seems to me visual arts in general are falling before misuse of AI. I say this because I recently had to defend some of my Digital Works on an Online site where ignorant people began tagging them as AI generated and even after proving they werre 3D and digital paint the people did not understand or care about how vastly different from AI that was and essentially considered all digital images AI... These are sad times for creatives.

I have lived long enough to see the life's passion I followed lead me to a dead and and be eroded by technological advances...

I barely use P11. There is much about it I do not like, and as I have mentioned elsewhere it corrupt some of my old content and scenes. I also lose access to essential Semiedeui, ShaderWorks, and D3D scripts. I do not have a machine to run P13, but even if I did I doubt I would like it better, especially since they crippled Queue Manager and dropped all support for integrating with other 3D packages easily via hosting modules (the P11 ones were busted and never fixed). I like to host content in Lightwave (the reason I supported the Pro branch).
I have no plans of buying into the next iteration of Poser at all, and there would have to be massive updates and additions and on some things backtracking before I would consider it.

As I type this I have spent the last 2 hours fighting even with Poser 2014 that keeps corrupting a scene on me and two more scenes keep crashing the program on render. Meanwhile people are flooding galleries, youtube, rumble, twitch, instagram, etc... with AI that they brag is so easy... I can't but wonder why be an artist anymore.

I was able to Access ShareCG briefly. There was a link to a notice about the closure. I have screenshot it below. There is an offer for sale of Websites, domain names, and physical hardware and storage devices for ShareCG and related websites. I wish I could help save at least ShareCG, but I know nothing about running a website, and as the result of protracted probate issues I have almost no finances to spare.

I'm afraid that there seems to be very little interest if the name isn't DAZ or Renderosity. I gave good prices, quality products, more than fair sales percentage to vendors, and...never gained traction. It was a very sad day when I gave up and closed the site. Many of the smaller sites are gone. The big two buried them.

I am not so much interested in the marketplace side of Share CG as I am the freestuff archives.
Your deal looked very fair, but it came at a bad time for me.
I liked RuntimeDNA, but their merger with DAZ forced me to move all of my products and only a handful went to Renderosity. I ended up splitting products between multiple websites (here, Rendo, YUR Digital, CGBytes, Content Paradise, and another I can't remember the name of) which meant redoing all of my promos, some multiple times to differing standards. and going through Quality checks and redoing all my readme's (some multiple times) as each store had different standards. Took weeks and was Frustrating. Then Content Paradise closed...so same thing... Then YurDigital... do it again... then the place whose name I can't remember... By the time Hivewire Closed, I was having a lot of problems IRL and I had suffered two consecutive HD crashes losing a lot of the source files and raw, High Resolution Image files... so I just haven't felt like bothering moving or trying to update old products since then (2017 was first HD loss, 2018 father died, forced to engage in this lengthy probate battle, 2019 and 2020 making multiple trips between 2 states 500 miles apart which was physically, mentally, and financially draining, 2021 forced to sell my home and move into a house in disreapair and most of my belongings and computer equipment went into and still is in storage...only now making any progress making room to do any kind of creative work). When stuff moved from here to Rendo, a lot of my products became Rendo Exclusives and I was a Rendo Exclusive vendor...but that whole tier is gone now. So now even though I am free to hosts products wherever on multiple sites, there's no where left, and I do not have the desire to redo all the images and readmes yet again...
Never saw a Payout from CGBytes and I am doubtful that not one thing sold...
