is it legal to sell props made with Poser primitives

I've made a character (prop) with the Poser 11 primitives, is it legal to use for retail?

Poser allows you to use some content as a vendor resource (Paul and Pauline), and some content is unrestricted (the low res and medium res figures). Bizarrely, the primitives aren't mentioned, meaning they are technically restricted and you shouldn't redistribute them. I don't imagine SM would have any objection, but it will be a hassle to ask. :(

I understand they have to make it legally watertight, but it could be more clearly set out, I think.

Thinking some more about this, the meshes for the Poser primitives are called from the Geometries folder. As long as you retain that, you wouldn't actually be redistributing the mesh.

Alternatively, how hard would it be to substitute them with primitives that have permission for re-use?

The free version of UVmapper can make all the basic shapes. Cone, box, sphere, torus, etc. When you make your own it's all yours for copyright. You can get it from UVmapper.com. Download the "Classic", which is a simple small program.

ockham, I have it and was even looking at the Pro version
I've actually made a couple of items with Anim8or that look nice. :)

Yes, Anim8or is fun. I started out using it, then moved on to Amapi. For really 'organic' shapes, Anim8or is still the best.
