Does anyone know anything about Youtube music copyrights?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Youtube copyright. There's this page on youtube: YouTube Type a song in there and it's supposed to tell you if there's any restrictions on the song. There's a few I'm thinking about using for my next video and it says it's okay to use them. So does that mean I can just rip the music from another video and use it? Surely not. I don't want to get my account banned there so that's why I'm asking. The songs I would like to use aren't in their free library which I've used so far with no problem.

Well I found a forum on Youtube so I'll ask there. There's an editor on youtube where you can add songs. I added one to a recent video and got a message tonight that it's copyrighted and the copyright owner will allow me to use it but that they will monetize it with ads. Sheesh! Why do they have the songs there for people to use if they are copyrighted?

also, Royalty free paid music is a good alternative if you have the funds for it.
