Well I opened a new file and tried it in there and it worked.

I'm not sure what you were experiencing, as I don't think I've ever seen that happen, or at least I don't recall it ever happening.

I got it worked out. Guess I had too many things in the scene. Thank you!

That can happen if you:
  • load the parent in frame 001, and...
  • move it in/by frame 030, then...
  • load the child in frame 030, then...
  • execute the parent command while in frame 030.
Which may not be the issue you encountered, but it is one possible cause.

That sounds about right. I've been working on props and have three human figures in it with multiple keyframes.
